Top mount manifolds

Post by fnqcairns »

Plan to fitting a turbo to the td4.2 GQ sourcing all bits and pieces myself, have narrowed the top mount manifold and the 3 inch dump pipe down to either Turbo-glide or a Denco.

One is around a long weekends worth of petrol cheaper than the other.....having never seen either in real life, any idea which one should I choose?

thanks

what turbo are you running?

I believe the two manifolds have different flange patterns?

Denco being T3 and Turbo Glide being T25.

Thats saying Turbo Glide will supply one as more often then not they wont sell the manifold on its own, although they have been known too.

I have a denco one, and the flange is t3.

Only thing I dont like is the turbo is quite far back towards the firewall, so the dump pipe needed extra work to make up, and is closer to the firewall than I would like.

Not sure if the other option is any better.

cheers.

Actually I suspect it is T25 but cannot say for sure, I have 3 turbo here with external waste gates an they each seen to have differing stud distances, I should measure them again.

The one I am planing to use is from a 50f00 sr20,.

Thanks for the heads up on setback quadcam ,will look into that.

I have a denco with a disco patato on it, had to make an adapter up to go from t3 to t28 and i made my own 3'' dump. it does sit pretty close to the fire wall 2'' away but it doesnt get that hot. not that i can tell anyway, the paint isnt flaking off or anything or hasnt changed colour. has been on for about 3 months and is a daily driver.

Whats the deal with high mount?
Is there any real performance benefits over a low mount?
I guess they would be better for water and deep mud crossings though.
