Catch ya round
Yeh, it is very disappointing actually. We had 7 Queenslanders who expressed interest, however one rolled is Mog at King of the Rim, & the others can't come due to financial reasons. So this only leaves 3 confirmed. They don't have to even live in QLD. Milo who's brother will be driving his rig lives in the Blues Mountains on the outskirts of Sydney; however he was born in QLD & that is fine. As long as you were born in QLD you will always be a Cane toad.
From previous experience I know it is a big ask for the Queenslanders who have to actually make the long journey; however to say you have actually represented your State is a huge & proud statement. I travelled to EMU Creek from Kurrajong Hills on the outskirts of Sydney 3 years in a row to compete in the Battle of the States. I did not hesitate the fact, I found some money, got a leave pass from my boss, brought along my family which included my 6 week year old daughter (in the freezing cold) & set up a tent. This why we have 4wd's, it is our hobby, sport & recreation. It's what we do to get away from the ever stressful week of work. I think the Queenslanders may require a little hardening up.
The tracks are very tough however they are doable & have all been tested other than the new stage, it will be tested before the event, we just don't build impossible tracks that can't be driven. There is over 2km's of super tough driving which is all natural.
Although there has been the Battle of the states event, there has never ever been a NSW v QLD (state of Origin) 4wd event. So this is a first, I think we need to make this event happens for all future NSW & QLD 4wd enthusiasts. If it does not happen this year, it may not happen again.
We have enough from NSW, so this is not a problem. There would be a lot of people who don't get on to outers, so Queenslanders, if you know someone who might be interested in competing who does not have access to a computer or does not know the event is on, please let them know.
We have by COB Monday 02/08/10 to have at least 6 Qld vehicles to compete in this awesome event. Please send your expression of interest to
gothe80@bigpond.net.au
Either way we will be running an event on the 11th & 12th September 2010 at Mudgee. Lets hope it is NSW v QLD.
Cheers
Jamie.
