Re: engine swap
well the gouvernment has a rule here
cars older then 25 years are streettax free my f85 is almost 26 years old
the f75 the tdi was build in 92 and cant get tax free annymore
tax for diesel car is 3 times that of a petrol car exxept for cars older then 25 years as they are tax free
and then we have the 1/3 rule here
cars older then 25 years are allowed to swap 1/3 of the car for younger parts
but only 1/3 if u swap more they take the age of the youngest parts and say youre car was build then so u have to pay tax again
and if i look at petrol price here and diesel thats a big difference and with the fuelconsumption of the f85 1 liter at 8 km i would probably be better of swapping to the tdi
might be a bit more difficult and more work then a normal diesel but that was the only scrap rocky i could find within budget
and the donor car doesnt even have license plates on it so its not allowed to be driven exept on youre own ground
as my garden is 50meters by 120 meters its not worth it
and thats the whole story why im gonna do the swap

Re: engine swap
It would pay to change both front and rear diffs as well, either just the centres, or the complete diffs. Thats due to the different ratios between the petrols and the diesels.
Also, the heaters are different, well they are in RHD markets, because yours is LHD, you may not have to change it, but if you have to you could get around this by extending the heater hoses.
Yes, you will have to change all or part of the wiring harness. If I remember correctly, there is a connector beside one of the seats. You could disconect it there, leave the rear half of the harness in place, and change the front. Also, things like instrument panel, to reflect the glow plug light, ect. Then there are silly things like different length clutch cables, radiators, ect, but you should easily get around this.

Re: engine swap
well for the diffs were swapping the complete axles
and the heater that is no big issue as i have to take the entire dash out for swapping the electrics so at the same time heater excange is no problem
tnx for the info
now some extra pics of a striped rocky cab

Re: engine swap
Is there a significant jump in power with the turbo to non turbo diesel? I have the standard, and kinda wished i waited to buy a turbo one.

Re: engine swap
yeah i have a td aswell i didnt mind the non turbo , but once i went turbo prob wouldnt go back , im running 33x12.5 and have no problem sitting on 100 . plus the DL diesels sound so much better than the hilux 2.8 turbo . the DL sound just like big trucks when you run no muffler lol.
Re: engine swap
any idea to power increase? percentage wise or kw/hp
Re: engine swap
hp went from 88 up to 101 at least thats what the books say
but it feels like a whole lot more

Torque is the big difference on these beasts - remember it's still a diesel that only revs to 4000rpm....manus wrote:hp went from 88 up to 101 at least thats what the books say

Re: engine swap
Not quite the same but theres some pics of my Feroza ( wow that was a long time ago......... ) on WARFS with its winch and mount.
Given the similarities in vehicles and bars might be worth a quick peek.
BTW - nice job.
