bit of progress now.

got the rockwells last night. Stripped one of them down today. The uni's are fuckin huge!!

The complete diff with drums etc are pretty heavy but without the drums they should be quite a bit lighter. You could also get a bit more weight out them, not alot though, by machining the hub face down. That would also narrow the WMS to WMS measurement a bit too.

So far i am extremely impressed with them, definately worth the wait.

If anyone is interested there a few more sets avaliable, PM me and i will give you the details.

I will get some pics later

Are these fitted with a factory locker? Or is there one available?

no locker in these ones.

You can get a detroit for them. I am going to get a detroit for the front and probably weld the rear. I will ring around a few of the truck joints with the model number etc of the diff and see if i can get a detroit for it out here. Some of the stuff from different model rockwells are interchangable, i am hoping that this centre was available out here in something. I will find out on tuesday.

Mick,

If you ever manage to break one, I don't want to be on board! :D It is great to see someone doing this. What driveshaft flanges do they use? Are they Rockwell specific?

i made some quick measurments with the old cruiser diffs i have here.

It should be around 10mm more clearance than the cruiser, from axle centre line to the lowest point on the centre.

How much more lift do you think you will need to run to clear the centre?
And are you going to run a pinion brake or wheel brakes?

I wont have any clearance issues in the rear as i have cut the chassis off. In the front there should be plenty of room. I am not sure what total lift you would need.

I will get an axle centre line to top of the diff measurment tomorrow for you.

I am going to run wheel brakes, they are simple to put on, i dont know why all the yanks say it is too hard!
