diesel engine cut off switch
Just wont to no how and the best way to install a engine cut off switch 4 comp use in a hilux with a diesel in it thanks
Re: diesel engine cut off switch
remove or power (whichever way it works on your motor) the fuel cut solenoid through a relay and a switch. if it is for safety legalities i.e. cams, you may find it needs to be a mechanical cutoff and you will need to see the governing bodies rules on what needs to be cut off i.e. fuel, power, etc.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
Re: diesel engine cut off switch
electric cutoff as you describe is perfectly acceptable for CAMS.
I use a two pole waterproof pushbutton switch. one pole cuts power to the fuel pump solenoid and the other pole cuts the ground wire off the Battery isolator solenoid.
reason for the two poles is the alternator will provide power to keep the fuel pump going if you cut the battery.
reason for switching ground on the solenoid is that a single wire is needed and the positive side of the solenoid gets power from a fuse holder across the terminals.
