GQ clock

I know this is probably pretty trivial, but does anyone know what the problem is with the clock in GQ's and how do you fix it? I don't know anyones that works.

Remove
Resolder all connections

replace

Should fix the common faults they get

know what ya mean mine comes and goes, the screen that is, but it holds time, so i guess the connections to the screen are dodgy, i'm gonna fix it up along with a few cosmetic things when i pull the dash out to install din uhf and remove old security system still wired in....

That's about the only standard fault my Mav doesn't have.

Just had the odometer/trip meter fixed.
Weekdays - Prado GXL D4D with some stuff
Weekends - Mav shorty with lots of stuff

How much did the odometer cost ya...did you buy a newski or get someone to fix it???

my odometer cost about $200 from memory.

The clock I actually fixed by WD40. DOtn know why that worked as such, but its been on now for about 8mths, so I aint touching again till it stops.

this seems to be a pretty common problem with the GQ's, both mine and a mates clocks dont work. When a mate was looking for a GQ/Mav to buy all of them except one the clocks didnt work. It wil be on the to do list.

yea, its common as corrupt cops for them to die...
apparently you can spray some stuff on them that shows you the broken joints, or just resolder the lot I say!

Have just fixed 2 GQ clocks.......

There is a large resistor on the back of the board (I think its the largest) and one or both of these solder joints will be the problem. To test, pull the clock apart (will have to pry open some small clips with a small screwdriver once you remove the fascia panel), plug back in and push or wobble this large resistor slightly with your finger. The clock should come good. In both my cases, I could see a slight crack in the solder joint. Just heat this joint with a soldering iron and no more problems.

The job takes no more than about 20 mins.

talkin to a bloke at club property about them, he got his GQ new, and it died within 3 mths the first time, then 8 mths, then he gave up, bought a $5 watch from the markets, double sided tape, and its still going.

my clock makes me late all the time....it comes and goes and when it does work it just adds an hour when it feels like it...might get around to fixin it by next xmas :oops: .....

nope my clock works fine just is a bit dull when u fire it up every now and then but thats it . had it 3yrs now ~~~ 90 , lwb wagon with the stabalizer release bar ?? :roll:
damn missus and kids stopping me buying more toys

Mine has the stabaliser release bar, auto areal, factory rear diff lock etc.
and the clock failed. Its fixed now :D

Not sure wat model i have though.. DX,ST,TI.......
doesnt have leather but it fully carpeted etc...

screwy mine is fully carpeted too dont have a clue what model it is either ?? no factory diff lock thou ! think its a ST not sure :D
