Jimny Question

Post by MissJimny »

Hi All

I purchased a new Jimny at Xmas and I was just wondering if it was normal for it to rev out at 4k when I am doing 100km/hr (Yes it's in 5th gear)

Thanks :D

all zuk's like to rev... not sure about 4k though?

mine sits on about 3400rpm in 5th doing 100. however i am running larger tyres and no gearing to compensate - so id expect it should be about 3700 on stock tyres.

A smigen under 4000 is about right for a jimny.

youll prolly find you have a 4.09 diff ratio (45 teeth on crown wheel n 11 on the pinion) my 04 model does when the documentation said 3.909

that rev range sounds about right.

they make peak torque (110nm) at 4500rpm i think
and peak power (60kw) at 5500 rpm

i would take mine 4 a run but the gearing is out so 100 on the speedo is like 125 kph

The engine sounds loud when going 100km/hr - just the sound of the engine reving - it's not too loud - but loud enough to be annoying! Should I ask the dealership about it, or wait for a service - I have had the first 1000 km service - the next ones not due until 15000km (I have had it 6 moths and have done just over 9000km)

they dont actually do anything at the 1st service.

i service mine every 5000kms or so cause im offroad a lot which stresses the engine more then driving on a highway.

i always found mine to be very quiet but that could be because all of my other cars have either been crap and loud or had aftermarket exhausts fitted
