Defender Body Compression
Everytime i seem to go offroading, i notice that the body of my defender compresses. Usually i just hear the noises of the door seals. But today i got out of the car to have a look at my articulation, and had trouble opening and closing the door.
Just wondering if anyone else notices this?

you forgot to mention you also had trouble reversing out after checking out your flex...
..Down here, we see quite a bit of 'compression' on the 110's that are up at the base for servicemen to hire when off duty....
(..They seem to have trouble staying on the road...)
Result...They kind of compress all over really, 'bout as wide as a Suzi Heap, short as a 90 & roof level with bonnet...that kind of thing..

I notice this very slightly on my IIA ute - when at maximum wheel travel bothends the door is a bit harder to open and close, but only very slightly. Don't notice it at all on my 110 county wagon though.

I am noticing similar on my 85 rangie, i can see the front screen moving in the frame. Also noticed some hairline cracks in 1 door pillar - anyone else had this with a pre 86 ( not welded together ) 4 dr rangie ?

Yeh, ANT ROVER (Anthony) had this prob. I think his Pillar almost snapped clean in half

Fairly common from what I hear - grind them out and weld them up

The body rubbers must be working well.
From 86 on Rangies were spot welded together making them stiffer, the early ones only rely on rivets, self tappers and a handful of bolts !
