Rodeo SAS with coils !!

Post by Vulcanised »

as some of you may have seen on the 4WDM forum and the general tech section of this forum, i'm doing a SAS on the Deo with coils all round. should end up with nearly 10" lift with the conversion and 35" tyres.... running on GQ diffs, disc brake rear, 4.88:1 gearing... will post more about it when i get more stuff in for it... i thought i would start a thread here for the isuzu boys to discuss :) I'm getting very keen!!!

Looks awesome. I'd be interested in seeing how you you attached front axle. Also, is the AU spec rodeo a recirc ball or rack & pinion steering setup? Mark

it's a reciurculating ball steering. When it's done, i will be using the Nissan steering box, i don't think the OE one would stand up to the job.

i have the chassis stripped of all suspension bits..... spent a hundred bux in oxy/acet and about 9 hours in total on a 9" grinder....... i am hoping to finally get the diffs under on the weekend..... IF it doesn't rain! not going as quick as i had hoped.... but it will get there eventually.

Post by Guzzi »

Tony,
Well I finally found time to fit your front diif to my rodeo.
What a right front bottom of a job on your own.
Surprise surprise no leaks and all works as advertised.
I had to change the side thrust washers to get the clearences in the lokka correct.
Holden/Isuzu dont miss a trick, not one fricken seal or bearing in that axle is available anywhere else but holden $pares.
Also had to buy 2 new axle assemblies ($400 for both trade at repco)as the bearing area for the needle bearing in the knuckle looked like surface of the moon, unfortunately all the ones I got off you were no better or worse.
Fixed a few areas of rust on the cross member mounts and the torsion bar tension mounts while I was in there.
So its all in and working and only cost $800 more than Id counted on, typical project eh.
So hows your extravaganza going?
