Petrol Tank Armour or Relocation/Raise
Petrol Tank Armour or Relocation/Raise
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a few serious dints in my petrol tank. I am just wondering what others have done to either stop these dints happening or to relocate the tank all together.
My tanks capacity is reduced. i think it hold about 30lt's which is not really enough for a good days driving.
And ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hookers are like bowling balls, You pick them up, put your fingers in them, then throw them in the gutter and they come back for more.
I installed a aluplate under my tank after the rusty stock plate got ripped off.
not good pics but you get the idea, one is to show how I munted it, I bent some flat steel under the tank and monted them using the stock mounts for the tank. the aluplate is bolted to the flatsteel
ed:cant get picky to work

I fitted a nissan 260C tank = 60litres into rear of tub.
possibly not relevant to hard tops etc.
there is many floor/boot mounted tanks in the wreckers, easy to bolt to a zook floor.
lwb made it easier, this tank may or may not fit a swb, but theres many different shaped tanks.
It cost me $40 and is much cleaner inside than my zook tank was, solving all my carb issues.

i will look around for a new tank and try to mount it in the standard spot, since i have a 75mm body lift i will try to rise it then a nice sheet of armour to help stop these dints from re occuring.
Anyone have a spare tank for a 84 sierra N/T.
Cheers

great idea, seen it done, only prob is the filler neck, means you can't just lift it up, needs moving over, or similar, sometimes meaning exhaust mod...certainly worth doing for many reasons.84ZOOKSTA wrote:i will look around for a new tank and try to mount it in the standard spot, since i have a 75mm body lift i will try to rise it then a nice sheet of armour to help stop these dints from re occuring.

You need a decent gap between tank and armour, or armour will damage tank anyway.
Some of our members have used vitara tanks, because of there flatter mounting system, and bolted them thru the floor, with a false floor over the tank. 60 litres is great for the zook
