*HELP NEEDED* Separating un-broken axles and CV's
*HELP NEEDED* Separating un-broken axles and CV's
Need a bit of help...
Have just bought myself some heat treated haultech CV's to replace my unbroken but flogged out CV's and cant seem to get the CV and Axel to separate.
When i have changed CV's in the past they have always been broken and separate easily (due to them being in pieces) but these ones are still together and wont let go.
Thanks in advance
Jason.

They can be a real pain in the ass to get out.
When we installed some new CV's, we removed the old ones (not broken) by getting a piece of pipe of appropriate length and size (big enough to take the inner axle with a snug fit (40mm should be good)) and mounting it vertically in the vice. You then stand on the bench above the vice, stick the inner axle into the tube (CV at the top) and then bang the cv hard on the top of the pipe. The momentum built up in the axle should be enough to break it free from the CV. It may take a few hits though.
Some of the hard core guys reckon that you can do it on one of the cross tubes in your chassis rail, good for trail repairs.
We had to replace the little c-clips on the end of the axle too.
