Post by vorno_18 »

i wanna fit a set or 36" tsl sx swapers to my 1999 gu how much lift do i need, i dont want it scrubbing on the streets as its a daily driver, i no i could just throw on a 7" lift but i want to go minimum lift that will fit these tryres and i dont want body lift

also will my 2.8 struggle to move them, i have 4.6 centres, im wanting to fit a v8 in the future but the old 2.8 will have to do for now

theyre bout a 35" true size arent they?
id say 3" or 4" if u want.
also depends on rim offset

cant comment on the 2.8 as i dont have one but from what ive heard they are underpowered

36 TSL's are 36.3" true

36 TSL SX are 35.9"

I'd say a 4" spring lift would fit perfect.

and i think you're 2.8L is going to struggle.

not too sure what the 35MTR measure as a true size, but we did run these on my old mans GU 2.8L it turned them quite well, on the street, thou a little slow of the line, we have since changd the diff ratio to a 4.88 and this has improved it a bit, but it is still a slow motor off the line,

also, your low range wont be that good, so id look at fittin a set of rockhoppers or marks gears, will make drivability in low a lot better,

A mate had a GU with a 5" kit and ran 35's without touching any guards. He did have Snake arms in the front which move the diff forward an inch.

6 inch lift for sure. 4 inch lift and no body lift and my 36 's scrubbed. GU. The 2.8 will handle them but you will lose a bit of go as with any motor.

Hahaha i got 36 pedes on with a two inch sus and two inch body! Radius arm spacers in the front clear tyres perfect. Slight rubbing on the rear guards but they have yet to be trimmed.
