trouble with engine stopping for split second

Post by whiteghost60 »

i have 1989 hj60 2h cruiser that will stop just for a split second
it has a fully reconditioned injector pump only 12 months old and new injectors new fuel filter.
can any body tell me whether it might be a electrical problem with the shut off solenoid and how do i test it or is there any other problem that some one has come across.
the engine does not totally stop. :?

I had the same problem with my 2h, turned out to be a loose connection on oil pressure sender giving a false no oil pressure signal and shutting down for a split second...

Mine did the same thing, turned out to be the connector plug to the edic control motor

My bj73 did the same thing only while the lights where on, turned out that i needed a cable connecting the earth on the battery to the body and that has fixed it. hope that helps. ;)

The above two responses are your most likely causes. If it becomes more frequent/rapid with more accessories turned on then it is most likely a loose earth causing your Edic motor to cycle.

You can visually check this by running engine and turning lights on and watching the connector rod between the edic motor and injector pump cycle through in unison with the motor dying and returning to idle.

Check battery earth and edic motor plugs. Bad battery earth was my experience also.

x3 on poor earth to the EDIC, it causes the motor to creep very slowly until it cycles.
