Re: Divorced transfer case

I don’t know, the transfer case in my Nissan has never given me problems, touch wood, but I had a 308 and now the 1uzfe v8 hooked up and it has handled that ok.

DavidM thanks for the comment on the old Nissan, but back to the rope I would just reoil the rope with a recommended cable lubricant. All I have ever done in the past is after using in mud is spool the rope out hose of the mud and respool running the rope back through an oiled rag. This has been all ...

When we used to get our underground winches inspected by the mines inspector they were always unto keeping the rope wick oiled, that is the hemp rope up the center of the wire rope. The purpose of the wick is to lubricate the wire strands, this allows movement of the wire strands and stopping the ...

It should as the bushes are a fair bit thicker than the Nissan bushes, the shackles can now flex more than the factory setup.
I have found that in my Nissan it seems to work better than before, but I do need longer shocks to get the full benefit of the modification. This is one of the jobs on my to ...

As I said I think the bushes are from a Toyota, they don’t come together as the mount is wider than Toyota, so I cut one bush down to make up the difference (three bushes per side). I just took the bush down to my local steel shop and got a short piece of pipe that was a tight fit for the bushes.

The higher you make the vehicle, the vehicle become less stable. But I have had little affect on my Nissan, but I do notice the added height on sharp corners at high speed.

As for the pinion angle from what I understand it should be close to parallel to the output shaft of the transfer case ...

Stokedapollo a SWB is affected more so than a LWB with the angle of pinion to the tail shaft, I used the original shackles from my wagon, I could have used a set from the utility as they are 10 centimeter longer which is bugger all in the scheme of things.

I have had little affect on the handling ...

Brighty if you want to look on my build up I have a few photos of the tanks I made, you can see how I had the baffles folded, getting baffles made this way allows the tank to expand and contract and not pull the weld causing leaks in the future. Rust is why I did mine the way I did, I was able to just spot-weld the seams the same as the factory method, plus used drain slots in the panel. Then sprayed plenty of rust proofing on the inside.

I used the standard fuel pumps on my mk to run a 308 with a four-barrel Quadra jet with no problems.
It could be your fuel pump on the way out, undo it of the carbie and run the pump it to see if it is running fuel continually.
But first I would check the filters, as it sound like a blocked fuel ...

Neither the MK or GQ have a valve to hold pressure on the drum brakes, like some other master cylinders do, the only difference you see visually when you strip the two master cylinders down is the bore size, so I don’t think there should be a problem there.

The mq master cylinder is smaller in bore, than some of the gq master cylinders, the easiest way is to measure is to measure the outside. The mq is 32mm and the larger gq is 36mm, from memory the bore is 4 mm larger.

No, I think it is worse than standard. The bigger master cylinder has given me more pedal height but less stopping power, I am going to try to fit the GU power booster this should fix it as they have a double diaphragm booster this will put more power to the brakes.

Well I reckon I know it wont fall of on our north Qld roads anyhow. I have made them with a jacking point each end that’s why I used 5 mounting points, but the way they are made they should not stop the chassis flexing.
