Re: 4wd not engaging

Thanks for the offer. I jacked it up again today and removed the lhub covers. The spring on both sides had rusted itself solidly onto the spline. So when I turned the key from Free to Lock, it wasn't engaging because the spring stopped it. Couldn't believe my eyes; no grease just rust. Undid the ...

Re: 4wd not engaging

G'day RAT, Did you sort this out yet? Mine's doing the same thing. I jacked it up with all wheels off the ground, put it into 4wd and saw the driveshafts were turning but not the wheels. Yes I had locked the hubs. Just checking before I pull things apart. Bob

Chris I have a '93 carby SWB which I admit I was reluctant to buy because I wanted a fuel injected model. I have found this Vit quite acceptable on the open road. It sits easily on the speed limits and is really easy and frugal to drive around town. I haven't found it underpowered for anything I've ...

Thanks Nic I bought the the Jack last Saturday. I am happy with the condition of the car; so far so good. It is really nice to drive on the bitumen. Yet to drive it in the bush. I have owned two Isuzu trucks in the past. I found them to be extremely reliable but as you say, expensive for parts ...

Has anyone owned a 1991 2.6l petrol Jack

I'm thinking of buying a '91 2.6l petrol SWB Jack to use as a weekender in the bush. Can anyone give me any info on the reliability or problems? Anything I should look for when checking it over

Thanks

I was hoping to get something for around the $5000 mark. Must have air and steer and preferrably a bullbar. I just like to get up in the mountains around the Hunter and Barrington Tops, so it must be ultra reliable. Thanks F70, I just saw that one on Ebay. He's about 5 minutes away from my place. I ...

OK Thanks for the replies. Just thought that being a 4x4 Daihatsu, they might have some ability. I'll keep searching for a Feroza or Rocky around $5K mark. There are a few available at the moment but they just don't suit me. I let a good one slip away a couple of weeks ago and am kicking myself ever ...

Terios - Are they worth considering?

I can't seem to be able to buy a Feroza/Rocky in the area that suits my cash outlay versus value for money so I was considering a Terios (there's a couple on Ebay at the moment). Are these things any good in the bush such as fire trails and fairly rough tracks or indeed where a sign says "4 wheel ...

'91 Jackaroo - opinions?

What are the good and bad points concerning a '91 jackaroo 2 door with a 2.6l engine? Is this model reliable and what sort of fuel economy can I expect?

Winch or tirfor?

Hi everyone. As a new convert to 4x4, I would like some opinions on a suitable winch for a Feroza or should I consider a tirfor (just for normal everyday exploring in case I get stuck ). Anything else I should carry?

Geez I'm starting to worry a bit now. I've just started looking for a roza but after reading about these comments, perhaps I had better get the experts in

Supercheap have smallish battery clamps hanging around their shops in packs of 4; ideal for this problem. Just get yourself comfortable and clip one on. I wouldn't be without them in any vehicle. :)
