My V6 Frontera is very sensitive to the condition of the air filter. On the Cape trip I got 13.5-14lt/100km up and 17lt/100km return with a dirty filter. Check the air flow metre for crap also.

Been on hls out west so haven't seen this until today. I fitted a snorkel to my Frontera without a template (becasue no-one else would risk it). Used a 92 Rodeo diesel snorkel and would expect that fitting one with a template would be pretty easy. One thing that did bother me was the size of the ...

You can get a VDO electronic ratio box from SGESCO in Archerfield. $230 I think. Had a few problems locating the speedo input cable. There is another identical coloured cable in the wiring loom under the dash but I couldn't work out what it was for. Ended up pulling the instrument panel out, which ...

Rich, If the vehicle is the 2.0 litre it is built in Spain I think. Have a friend who has one and he has done his front diff twice. They are genuine only parts. If it is the 2.2lt it was built in the USA and the build quality is pretty good for my money. I would probably save some dough and get a 3 ...

Dipstick, ABout the lift. Did you check the travel on the rear shocks. If ARB have the same attitude they had when I got my kit from them, you'll find the shocks have the same travel as the original ones. THerefore after ifting it 2" you'll effectively have 2" less downward travel. Htis caused me ...

The clunking noise you can hear is the body mounts. The mounts are soft and flex too much. When the body flexes the steel tubes in the front mount can sit on each other making the second mount under the front floor pan clunk as it separates and returns. I was told by Holden it was the torsion bars ...

I run 31x10.5x15 Goodyear MT/R on a 40-mm front lift on my '99. Some minor scrubbing on partial lock until about 14,000 km old. I left the front mudflaps on and did some minor mods to the inner guard. The problem is the wheel offset. The Frontera has a 38mm+ offset and ROH etc steel wheels are 10mm ...

Forget the glove box idea. Mine's noisy enough on the roof without it being inside. I have a friend who works for TJM and he has been looking at my snorkel because he can't find anything to fit. If he comes up with another solution I'll let you know. Of course there is always the 3" Stainless Steel ...

I have a 40mm lift on the front of my Frontera and a 50mm at the rear. No problems so far after 91,000km. Go the Rancho shocks because of the adjustability. I have Rancho 9115 on the rear and OME on the front. The OME supplied for the rear the first time were for a Pajero and were too stiff and didn ...

I put an airlocker in the rear of my 99 V6 Frontera S a few months ago. THe ARB list for the 4.3 diff was a RDO6 but when it was pulled apart it was an RD07 same as a Wrangler. It is a DANA 44 but you might find the v6 is different to the shorty. The crown wheel is too big for the RD06. Anyway it ...
