As for your crunching problem first check that both free-wheeling hubs are engaging properly. If one is stuck in the free position or not engaging fully you will not be able to engage 4wd on the move and will probably have a smoking diff too! Mind if i ask how to check whether they are engaging or ...

Thanks for the help!! So... it could be stationary engagement? Although - we used to be able to shift on the fly no worries...? It is an SD33T 5 speed... is there any way to find out whether it is stationary engagement or on the fly (other than, driving down the road and crunching the hell out of th...

MQ Transfer Case Questions.

Hi All, My old man's MQ patrol is struggling to go into 4wd from 2wd. If you are moving more than about 5 km/h then it will grind the gears until you slow down. As you slow down it will then click into 4high. Obviously, if you are standing still.. then it doesnt grind at all. What would cause this? ...

MQ Rev Counter

Hey all, THE MQ patrol's rev counter doesnt work (hasnt been since we got it). Anyhow, i was going to have a look at it today, so i started to take the dash apart, removed the plastic cover on all the gauges, and got all the screws removed. Now i expected the whole console bit to come away allowing ...

Speedo Cable??

Hey All, the '84 sierra has no speedo working. I know that it is driven by a cable - but how do i get the cable out of the gearbox? It looks like it has been busted there somehow, and doesnt look like i think it should. Does it just pull out - or is there a special thing to do to get the out. Is the...

The beeping for not having your seatbelt on when you start the car is under the drivers seat (it is in my 2000, so im assuming it would still be in the same place).

As for the rest, apparently it involves cutting wires (which i dont like to do...) so i dont know about that too much.

Its just plain stock. Tyres and everything is stock.

The car was only in bits for a couple of weeks - a month at the most!

It is a lot harder than what it was before the strip. Should the steering box be packed with grease as well???

Thanks for the help so far.

'84 Sierra - Steering?

Hey all, Just a quick question. The '84 sierra just got a brand new paint job, all stripped down, sanded and painted - then all put back together. We didnt strip down the engine bay or anything like that - just the necessary parts to get a paint job done. Now - for some reason - the steering on the ...

Yeah, ITs not going to be used as a competition car or anything - he just wants something that is good enough to take him to work and back, and somethign that is plenty capable off-road! We started pulling her apart tonight. Took all the doors off, windows out, bonnet, everything off her and started...

The only reason we got the 1l was because we got the car for $800, and we were struggling to find any zooks around perth for a half decent price. It needs a bit of body work - but that we are going to do, which is the easy part. That suzki info site was pretty handy - we need to do plug gaps and wha...

technically you can fit 32" tyres.. but it wont be any good for driving. 31" tyres will fit - but as matty suggested they will probably rub when swaybars are disconnected. But - if you wanted to do it cheaply - you could do a 1" BL and MML which will stop the tyres from rubbing as muc...

Yankee, I bought my extractors from Suburban4wd.com - excellent bunch of people to deal with, and they sold them to me at a reasonable price. After the extractors, shipping and gasket, i got my extractors for $480. The most expensive part of the install is the install - if that makes sense. I found ...

Mate, I just recently did my extractors on my TJ. Its a bit of a pig of a job - but it wasnt super hard. You could do it in a weekend if you spent all day on it! It was quite a simple job - but there are a few tight spots where you cant get your hand into (or out of for that matter) which makes you ...

MQ Coil Conversion?

Hi All, My old man just recently bought an MQ 3.2L turbo diesel patrol. He came out today with me in my TJ wrangler and a few of my mates and their wranglers.
