Re: Test driving this 2day what should I look out for

Just put a block under the pedal assembly... makes it more comfortable for just about everybody. ( its an electronic throttle so no cables to get in the way.... ) Be careful Piglet..... repair on the CRD is bloody expensive if anything goes wrong, and there's not that many really knowledgeable ...

Re: Detomaso Feroza engine swap...

As stated the ancillaries will need to be changed but the core engine will go in.

However the difference will then be about zero unless your old engines cactus. Without the HDEG electronics really the change is mostly in name only. Hope it turns out well.

Re: Detomaso Feroza engine swap...

IMHO not a really worthwhile modification ( been there done that ......) if its anything but a city vehicle. Yes its an improvement but you need to rev the crap out of it to get much of the gain - and if your on big rubber then ratios etc can work against you. Thats why i supercharged... just couldn ...

Re: Auto Wiring

No i made replacement driveshafts - used stock CV's but put strengthening rings around them. Given that they weren't running big angles they never gave me grief unlike front diffs :-( If its for comp work then the lockup is a total waste of time - you shouldn't be using it under any circumstances ...

Re: Auto Wiring

I'm pretty certain that all your going to see is some wires to a "black box"... not very helpfull. But if it truly an A44D then frankly just ignore it, at least for the time being anyway. The lockup converter only operates in VERY specific circumstances and in a powerhouse like a Feroza its mostly ...

Re: Auto Wiring

Never found a diagram anywhere....... and i've looked. However the A44D ( as i understand it ) only uses an electric lockup converter, which is nice to have but far from essential. I've never bothered with mine ( its an A44DE... which is slightly different as its electric shift not hydraulic ) There ...

Re: Tigerz11 10,000lb winch, how much plasma fits?

And squeezing on too much isn't a good idea IMHO.... if it bunches up at an end ( which happens ) then you can snap the castings by pressure on the stays. And of course the load rating decreases with increase in effective drum diameter which more rope will contribute to in close up winching ...

The JJ's are very substantial units - which might cause space issues sometimes - and really cheap to rebuilt should you ever need to.

I also had one of these Repco winches and it was also noisy. Real grease helped a bit. What i noticed that it was quieter when on the ground and MUCH noisier when bolted bown tight, loosed the gearbox side bolts and it got quieter. Could it be that the mounting feet aren't quite the same level side ...

It was actually a Mazda BPD turbo mated to a AW4 auto then Vitara TCase with wierd driveshafts axles lockers etc etc.... With a Hemi conversion transmission / transfer and driveline may all be issues depending on state of tune and driver behavoirs. D60 conversions aren't that uncommon of JK's with stock engines / drivelines as D30's are just adequate for standard use, D44's are a little better but for the potential ...

For JK's a commonly available conversion is the fitting of one of the range of Chrysler Hemi V8's.
From my limited knowledge of these swaps.... there are a range of engines and states of tunes and are readily engineered ( if done properly ).

Very limited experience..... one 12V motor rewound. Used an industrial motor rewinder and it cost a fortune as it was the armature that went. A field winding will be cheaper IMO

Another smarter option ( IMO anyway ) would be to run a divorced Sierra Tcase

Run a short saft off the output shaft of teh Feroza box to the Sierra TCase.

Absolute heaps of ratios for a Sierra TCase and not stupidly heavy.

I just used good quality jumper leads ( which i always carry ).... don't forget it you have a winch then there's some extra heavy duty cable that can be borowed if necessay.
