Gen 1 gearbox compatibility
Hey fellas... Well my gearbox finally let go in the paj last night. back in 2004 i had it neutralize between gears in the middle of a hill climb, Myself and some mates did a dodgy fix and managed to get it driving again albeit with alot more slop between gears with a couple of hammers and some screw ...

Re: Replacing GQ Trailing Arm Bushes
Hey Guys. Thanks again for the replies. Replaced them all today. Did them one at a time while the car was on the hoist. Piece of cake. However the old bushes (sleeved rubber ones) took a bit of grunt in the press to get out. Just took abit of time to make and good setup for the press. Id been told ...

Replacing GQ Trailing Arm Bushes
Heys Guys Had a search and a look through the bible but couldnt find any info on replacing the upper and lower trailing arms on a GQ. Are they just a simple press in and press out deal? (Ive got a 40t press at work) Is there anything to look out for? Were going to just grab some normal replacement ...

Re: 89 hilux petrol runs on
Could also be cr*p build up around combustion chamber/head. It stays hot for a bit after engine is shutdown and becasue of that it can act like a spark plug..... Could be a combo of this and the solenoid as well. Have you had the head off recently? From what ive read the cr*p is a build up of the ...

Re: 1 HD-T v 1 HD-FT engines
Toyotas engineers have co-authored a paper on cavitation on bearings in 6 cylinder diesel engines. Bad batch of bearings? Don't think so and 5,000km oil changes aren't going to stop that either. I read a very technical article about harmonic vibrations in the 1HD-T being the cause of failed big end ...

Re: 1 HD-T v 1 HD-FT engines
If you get one make sure you take the sump off and change the big end bearings, originally these engines used to spin big end bearings and stuff the crank.... Cheap insurance to change them. Great engines though! had a mate who was a service manager at toyota when these things came out (he left the ...

Re: 1 HD-T v 1 HD-FT engines
Guys, In summary to this topic, would it be fair to say that both 1HDt and 1HD-FT engines are as good as one another in terms of strength and longevity? Strength-Yes as they were both designed as dedicated turbo motors with all the nessesary bits being stronger than the 1hz Longevity-Yes, but you ...

We use 'D-mastic' which is a non setting sealant that 'skins' when we do some roofing and body work on busses/coaches. http://www.selleys.com.au/car-care/sealants/d-mastic" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; not sure how it would go with the heat in an engine bay though. you tried sending ...

Re: Gen 1 - KM145 5-speed Strengthening Pans
Thanks for the complements. The KM (FM etc...) series transmission cases flex more than others under torque. The flexing moves the primary shaft and secondary shaft away from each other thereby moving the torque loading out the a weaker part of the gear teeth and improperly side load the bearings ...

Hey mate. The kit looks good- nice to see a quality comprehensive kit/install instructions for the DIY'er. But Im still at a loss to see what benefit the kit makes?
