Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Bulk torque at low revs on big tyres and 4.1 diffs seems to be part of the crank snapping recipe.
Add a driver with no mechanical sympothy and it is complete.
There are other little factors we suspect might be involved, but only time will tell.
Snapping a crank is really not on my list to worry ...

As stated , I don't have dyno runs yet and the old motor that my first prototype is bolted to has some serious injector pump issues so I cant give any figures at this stage . There are lots of options for more power and the simplest ones are all about getting more air in so you can burn more fuel , well duh ... but if you live in the hunter valley area and dont know where to start then perhaps I can help . After building a big plenum style intake manifold in preparation ...

Forgot the cost. I wouldn't have got to $7000 yet.
New turbo and a couple of other bits later in the year will get the cost closer to $10k, but hopefully another 16rwkw.

Nothing special
Stock unopened TD42T,400k km. Last 100k km with current setup.
UFI built 12mm pump.
56trim 2871 with .5a/r compressor cover and a .64a/r T2 exhaust housing with a fair bit of porting.
Usual 600x300 front mount with a chopped up intake manifold.
3.5" exhaust.
30.1 psi boost.

Lets back track a little.
Before you put the cooler on, were or when did you hit max boost?
Just blowing 120psi through the cooler is no indication of anything.

I reckon so. I'd wind the fuel back up and drop the boost a little. OR stop guessing and get it professionally tuned.

If all he has done is add the cooler then the tune should not have changed that much.

Pull the injectors and have them tested.
I had a similar think happen and it had broken 2 injector springs and jammed the nozzles.
Sounded like it had done a big end bearing and smoked heavily(white).

tye1986 has done it so has MikeH, both with alot more boost too.
It depends on how hard you lean on it though.

18-20psi.
But you will need (or get someone) to have a play with the pump.
130 odd rwkw is acheivable with the 2860rs and a well setup pump.

You should be able to make that hp with the turbo you have.
You won't get much more than 170-180hp from the stock pump anyway.

Push and turn from memory. Should have a spring in the end of the knob.

Are you saying test injectors flow more than the actual injectors used?
If so would you happen to know by how much?

On further thought that would not work so well.
You need better material for the crank if you stroke it,the stresses on it are tremendous once you start spinning it with big heavy pistons, throw lots of boost and fuel at it then take it all out at one end with big sticky tyres.

The best advice I could offer was to go read the thread in the link provided.
I guess I could have posted a pic of my manifold and said its been tested at 260hp too but that would mean very little.

What you should have posted earlier was " no I don't have actual figures".

What I can't see is were your foot is or what was happening before your took the photo.
I can get the same or better depends on were my foot is.
Point being it is not a good example.

Pump timing will also have a large affect on egt's.

What is guessing about it? Just because I take data and do the math's on how something performs doesnt mean its a guess...

If you fit a manifold and it leans the AFR off, the EGT will be lower. Its a simple scientific fact.
If you have seen any flow bench data on a standard manifold you will know ...
