I'd take out one leaf from each pack and see how it rides. The longer ones in the middle of the pack first. If it's still too stiff, take out another leaf. If the rear has a big thick overload leaf, ditch it. You could try the first leaf under the main leaf. I am running OME rear packs all round ...

Yes they sound like they have too many leafs to me, what brand are they, or the kit?
Do you have longer shocks? Brakelines? What shackles and bushings?

If your standard suspension rode better, then something is amiss.

I've had a lockrite for nearly nine years, used std whatever's on special, gear oil and it still works as good as it did when new.
Can't say the same for my Richmond gears, they started stripping teeth front and rear. Zuki gears are much better.

I use a Warn 2500lb ATV/Utility type winch. Had it for several years. I had the motor epoxied and baked, and with a snatch block it has never let me down. I got mine from the USofA while I was ordering some other stuff. They are alloy though, not the best. Steel is the best. An Engineer should be able to knock up as many as you want for a few dollars. I'm not into measuring stuff, but I estimate at least 2 & 1/2 to 3", especially on the front end. Shocks are very important, I would not recommend the OME shocks. I use revolver shackles on all corners too. These make a SUA setup quite good off road, and on road I never notice them. Oh, with the RUF ...

I run the reverse, that is an 8V head on a Gti block. So the pistons have reliefs for four valves per cyl. and there are only two valves per cyl. This makes it an interference head. Nic, I run the older model OME springs RUF, and I use the heavy pack. That is a four leaf pack, and I use this pack front and back. Don't know whether the Dakars have the same settings though.
I am happy, but YJ's in the rear sound like a nice setup. Or CJ fronts.

My wifes car is a 96 swift Gti and the seats are hardly any better than the Sierra originals. IMO.
There are a shipload of really nice seats in the wreckers, they just take a bit of imagination to fit them.
I used Toy MR2 seats, nice and narrow and the drivers seat has all the adjustments.

This setup was to keep the snorkel, but I kept ripping it off in the bush. I use a ramflo filter now and it goes even better. The SU can be rotated to run at 30 degree angles.
