Re: I want to put an auto behind my 6.5l Chev

After having put a TH400 in my SWB Mav, I wished I'd gone for a $2000 carbon twin plate clutch, and a gearbox re-co....
Woulda been heaps cheaper.....

Transfer case is sitting about 125mm further back, which is on the limit for tailshaft shortening in a SWB.....

Having said that, the full manual ...

I wish my ls1 was gettin 19/100 on highway.
My turbo 4.0L Maverick is getting that towing my camper. Accelerates up any hill......

You want torque, then you will have to have some sort of forced induction. If you're worried about fuel economy, then you should've done the 6.5L diesel conversion ...

Re: Replacing GQ Trailing Arm Bushes

Agree with the others, the poly bushes are no where near as good as the genuine rubber bushes.

I cant complain about mine. The new ones should take some high rev launches at the drags a bit better. I heated my trailing arms a bit with an oxy set. Couple of taps and the old bushes were out no ...

Re: Late series GQ Heater box To early GQ/Maverick

GU's do have a heater tap. I can guarantee at least series 1 GU's do and it's a plastic item on the inlet to heater core. I think I have photos on my computer somewhere as I had to bend the alloy pipes when I did the engine conversion. The cable that moves the air flap also rotates the water cutoff ...

Late series GQ Heater box To early GQ/Maverick

Does anyone know if this can be done. I need to change my core as it's leaking, and the GQ's after 92 use same one as GU, and no heater tap.......strange???

Only option to keep is to have one custom made, which is what i think i will be doing....depending on price....Other option is to fit a falcon ...

Hey,

I also added some relays to go to the headlights. My battery is in the rear of the vehicle, and with some semi-decent sized cable from jaycar, rnning from my junction box, the headlights are 10X better. I have some 90/130's, but havent bothered to fit them yet, if at all.....

Re: Water to air installation questions.

You can just see the lower hose from heat exchanger. Pump goes to this, out the top to intercooler core. Pump is mounted behind bullbar.

Re: Water to air installation questions.

I had coolant in my system, but got rid of it and just use plain water, as there was some electrolysis happening in the core.

No probs with the warmish water going thru my pump. I pump the cooled water from heat exchanger to the core. I have an extra tank for added capacity. I can send some pics ...

GU rear calipers

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the GU rear calipers are a bolt on to GQ/ Maverick.

I have upgraded the fronts and i need to fix rears as the pin that locates them is a bit worn. Do GU's have a slightly larger rear disc??

Looks pretty good in there. I have similar set-up in mine, but i have petrol motor, and no A/C. Have you got a reservoir somewhere?? You may end up recirculating warm water around if it cant dissipate enough heat.

GQ sliding window rubbers

Hey,

As we all know the GQ/Maverick is getting a bit old, so has anyone replaced the rubbers($600 from Nissan when i last checked).

FWIW, you'd be better off putting the later model overhead cam motor in, but i would hate to think how much they would be, ford efi motors are plentiful, and reasonably cheap. My economy is roughly 1.5 times better. I have got over 580 kms from my 120 litre tank. I cant complain about the power ...
