Re: single point injection

I've put the throttle body/injectors off a 3.9 litre ea falcon on mine, with a megasquirt running it. Goes well, just have to use the hires code for megasquirt 1 to run the injectors fast enough to get a good idle -- they are quite big for the 1.3 litre after all. The engine is now VERY responsive ...

Re: Multi-V conversion on Samurai G13a

I've set up the alignment pretty well -- It's within 1mm. It gets a pretty hard time since it's wet/muddy so much of the time too. I'm pretty sure I could fix it by using a slightly larger V-pulley on the alternator (the current one is quite small) but I'll be putting power steering and a ...

Re: i keep bending drag links! wt sierra

Sleeve it with two sections of angle iron attached with three or more U-Bolts, not welding. Any welding on the link will decrease it's fatigue life, no matter how well it is welded -- anyone telling you otherwise obviously knows very little about metallurgy. If it's only used offroad, I'd just weld ...

Multi-V conversion on Samurai G13a

Hey, I'm going to need to put a multi-V belt on my samurai -- The stock V belt only lasts a few hours with the falcon alternator + winching.... I've searched around and am struggling to find a clear answer as to what pulleys to use. Do I need a crank pulley from a swift or a vitara? And does the age ...

Could anyone clarify exactly what falcon alternator fits? And do they just require a pulley swap to fit or more? Is this the right one? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Ford/Electrics/auction-287257846.htm (not that I plan on buying another second hand one, had enough ...

The suby alt isn't a lot more than the stock zuk one -- 55 or 60 amps or so I think. Only reason I put one in is because I had one lying around.

built4thrashing, where is that from?

Not easier at all (the subaru one bolts straight in), and any alternator will work electrically -- a 3 wire alt is a 3 wire alt. Turns out the VR in the alternator has quit. Of course, if I had found a falcon alternator for the right price I would have gone with one, since they have a much higher ...

I wouldn't go using bearing retainer in the housing. For one thing, ideally the outer race will (very slowly) creep around to even out the wear on it. Also, if you use the wrong kind (there are a large number of different bearing retainer compounds in loctite's range) you'll make it rather difficult ...

Alternator issues after subaru retrofit

I've just put a (known working) subaru leone alternator (IC Reg) in my samurai (fits without modification!) but it isn't quite working right. The alternator light on the dash stays lit dimly and the voltage goes way up to around 17V if I rev it. The wiring in the zuk has taken a bit of a hammering ...

about US$290 for a v2.2 MS1 ecu kit, relay board kit, and stimulator kit.... there'll be a bit extra to spend locally on wiring and connectors and so on but pretty damn cheap really.

OK, so the megasquirt system is cheaper than I realised, so I have a kit on the way and will go straight there without messing with the ford system. One thing I hadn't considered is that I will probably need a plenum chamber between the throttle body and my standard carb manifold.... Although I have ...

Falcon fuel injection

I've managed to get my hands on a complete falcon CPI system to remedy my never ending carb trouble with my samurai (standard 1.3l). I know the throttle body and injectors have been succesfully used with smaller engines than this with aftermarket computers, and engines a little larger (~2l) will run ...

Moving fuel tanks on samurai/413

Hey, i have an '89 samurai with 2" body lift. The fuel tank is still in the factory location, leaving a ~2" gap between it and the floor above it. Would be nice to remove this gap to get the tank up out of the way.... I realise that the tank cannot be simply moved upwards on its mounts, since the ...

Samurai carb? problem

This is an issue I'm having with my '89 samurai.... standard carb. etc. Runs fine normally; However, after driving at speed (~100km/h) for a while something goes wrong. It will run OK at full throttle, but at any other throttle setting it is basically dead. It will still Idle ok. If I pull over and ...

Re: Scary stopping!

It's been pointed out that the brake pressure spring *may* have had to be moved to correct braking pressure under load... and be farked if i fully understand this. OK so, they have a adjustable proportioning valve attached to the rear susp. that adjusts the rear breaking based on how much load ...
