Yeah, my alternator is shot. Diodes cooked and coils are a mess.

But the AE has told me he can fit a new 'clutchless' alternator for less then $400.

Does this sound right and what is the difference/issues with having a clutchless alternator.

Just discovered the same problem on my GU3 (3 litre t/d). Metered the battery and 12.6v with the engine off and then it drops to 11.6v when turned on. The alternator has 12v on the input connection, but the output 12v does not change with the revs. All the earths are good. Am I up for a new ...

Looks like the typical 'Orange Toperi' storm was 1 day early this year. Those who lived through it last year will know what I mean. We had a cracker last night, roofs dislodged and tress uprooted. Hope no-one was on the mountain during this one. At least is should settle the dust for the spectators ...

GU brush rails/sliders ??

I have a GU3, with the standard Nissan winch bar on the front and want to add a set of brush/side rails to it. ARB and TJM have told me that their units don't fit due to the angle of the side support loop of the bullbar. I have seen some vehicles which appear to have the full length brush rails and ...

Thanks guys for the help. Looks like I may just cut it off and use the clamp suggestion. So simple, thanks. As for the need of this additonal support, I am just concerned about the weight of the dump pipe hanging straight off the turbo, with no support. But if this in not on the TD42, then it should ...

Snapped bolt !!!!

I have found one of the bolts securing the Beudesert Exhuast has snapped off at the head and there is a little freeplay. It looks like it is rubbing against the oil return line. (???) I have taken it to 2 mechanics and they both told me that it can't be tapped out due to where it is a muffler place ...

GU3 - front end rattle !!!

Hey guys. I am desperate to find this rattle, as it is driving me crazy. Being a severe tinitus suffering, those who have this condition will understand my pain. Hey Eric, As the others mentioned, as long as it is used as designed, you can't go wrong. I have modified my wife's xtrail, adding a 50mm suspension lift and larger 225 size bfg tyres. I can take it pretty far, but there is no way that it can keep up with my GU. They are great tow vehicles, but due ...

I have gone against the grain and mounted mine on top of the steering wheel column.

I can still see all the instrument panel, so no issues. This picture is NOT of my view through the steering wheel.

Nice and handy :)

GU horn upgrade - Stebel Nautilus

After being seriously embarrassed by the piss poor standard horn in the GU Patrol, I decided to fit the Stebel Nautilus horn. This horn is 139db of pure ear piercing sound and a real wake-up call to other road users who get in the way. I have posted a video (audio) on YouTube, so you can see the ...
