I did it on a g16a and it was a piece of piss, You just have to have the belt FTight to avoid it slipping on startup. I think 4pk 830 was the belt I needed, It took 4 tries to getthe length right.

For a rear tow point I use the towbar on my sierra. It wraps around the petrol tank protecting it aso. I cut the stem short and cut a hole in it to take a shacle. so now no more tow (I have a spare stem but dont like towing with a sierra even with a 1.6 in it)

Id use the sierra sump anyway as the deeper pan would have to be better for keeping oil to the motor at very steep angles. If you want to check clearance you could install the motor with the 1.6 sump them check the clearance, if it isnt enough change the sump after.

I think you both hit th nail on the head. The inside dash earth was ok but the battery/body earth had about 10mm of missing wire under the insulation. I replaced it with the 125 amp wire I had left from the alternator conversion, havnt tested it yet but it shoul fix the problem. Thanks heeps for the...

Do a search to see pictures of the sump modification. You use the 1.3 sump and cut the baffles out. It also takes a masage with a hammer to clear the front of the crank. you also need a frankestein oil pickup made by using the top half of the 1.6 one and the bottom half of the 1.3 one. All this is t...

Strange electrical problem, any ideas

woolongong headers

I fitted a set to my G13B in a 90 sierra and they allowed it to rev out much cleaner, very happy, fitted to the stock system. Since fitted a G16A and a weber 32/36 and they seem good on it although I never had the 1.6 motor in the car without the extractors so cant compare.

Fitting Flares

Hi
Ive just brought some rubber flares for my sierra. Am wondering hat the best way is to fit them: Tec screws, Rivets, Nuts and bolts, contact adhesive.

Tec screws seem the most obviouse way but has anyone had any trouble with them rattling loose.

any thoughts?

To check the wheel bearing jack the wheel up and grab the top and bottom of the tyre with each hand, shake it, if you can feel play, a jerk back and forth the bearings need adjusting or replacing. Bering are about $60 a side from a bearing retailer such as universal bearings, dearer if you go to an ...

I brought a 90 Vitara for my wife and had the same problem. You could turn them with pliers if you yanked on them only (I dont recomend forcing them, fix them first). The parts inside seize due to never being cleaned and greased. All I had to do was undo the allan keys pull the mechanism out and soa...

I did mine with a conversion kit of ebay for $200 from a bloke from NZ, the kit worked well and with the 1.3 sump no bodylift needed. Mine also has a weber 32/36 with the stock filter adapted to fit.

Does the larger alternator put much more load on the motor, do you notice a drop in power. Seems like a great idea.

weber 32/36 wont rev out

HA I have a sierra with a 32/36 weber and extractors. Carbi ran fine for 12 months but now wont rev out. Have cleaned out carbi didnt help. Im fairly sure it is the carbi as I have changed the coil, leads, plugs, dizzy, pretty much everything bar the carbi. It revs out fine at 3/4 throttle but as so...

I brought my motor 2 weeks ago from checkered flag wreckers at smithfield complete with alternator, fuel pump, extractors and carby, exactly as you pull it out for $850. You need the vitara alternator because the be...

Weber conversion

To check for a vacuum leak spray aerostart around the manafold and base of the carby, if it is leaking it will get sucked in and you will hear change in the motor. Did you get the carby from GEM off ebay, I got mine off him and it was way too lean. He was a dick and wouldnt sell me the jets to fix i...
