Thanks for the replies guys. It's due it's 200k service anyway so I'll get the mechanic to check it out then. It's also been suggested I check the splines going into the steering box to see if they are twisted.

I'll post the outcome once I know what it is.

I got a HP IPaq RX1950 for $150 from Ebay. Haicom HI204III gps with 12v adapter and lead into IPAQ for $130 or thereabouts from Johnny Appleseed. RAM suction mount about $70.00 from same. All up the setup cost about $350.00 tops. The RX1950 doesn't have bluetooth but that's not an issue for me and ...

FYI you can get rated hooks (and I'm not talking about the tie down loops) from a Prado or 100 series that fit the 80. You may be able to pick them up from a wreckers or if you're feeling flush then you can get the genuine article from Toyota for about $130.00 a hook  I managed to pick up one ...

Re: Powdercoating

Can anyone give me a rough guestimate on how much it would cost to get some barwork powdercoated, would it need to be preped much first? im looking at getting my red rear cheezy bar and sliders done in a black and then maybe the front arb style winch bar redone so it matches the other two. Im in SE ...

Check the part number on the shocks. If they have SP1 after the part number it means they have been spaced for standard ride height.

The good news is that you can get the spacers removed. From memory I think it's about $40.00 a shock and they service them at the same time.

Yeah thanks man!! Pulling the drum was actually my first thought, but that involves removing the calipers. Seeing as I don't have a manual yet (hence not having a pic of the inside) I decided not to go randomly unbolting braking bits :) Ta for the info :finger: The adjuster should be somewhere ...

FYI I run 35x12.5X16 Bias Claws on a 2" spring lift (no spacers or anything else) and have yet to have issues with rubbing. Having said that I did have to go to ROH trak II rims because the std GXL rims didn't have enough offset.

Hope that helps.

80 Series Gearbox Chirrup

I have a chirruping noise from the gearbox on the 80 series which disappears when the clutch is depressed. The noise is there whether in neutral or when driving. Is this likely to be the front input shaft bearing? The box is also a bit sticky shifting into 1st and 2nd when cold (not that that's ...

80 Series Mounting points for Sliders

Does anyone have any pics of their mounting points for rock sliders for an 80 series without a body lift?

Any bright ideas for a mounting point up front on the drivers side (where that bloody flexible joint is)? :bad-words:

Thanks
