I decided to go with the 6-port valve setup. I reckon the other set up is just as much stuffing around and cost for a solution that is only half as good.

Does anyone know how well the standard in-tank pumps flow? By the size of the pump I'd imagine it would take half a day to transfer the fuel :).

I imagine I could somehow tap into the fuel senders and have the pump run continuously as long as the main tank is not full and ...

Dual tank siphon setup

Hi All,
I've bought a 2nd hand sub-tank to add to my GQ diesel. From what I have read elsewhere these sub-tanks are usually set up to be siphoned by the main tank. The tank came out of a petrol truck and has a fuel tank sender fitted with an in tank electric pump.

Does anyone know how I plumb the ...

GQ speedometer output voltage

Hi All,
From looking at the wiring diagram for my 1991 GQ there seems to be an orange wire that goes from the speedo to the diff-lock. My guess is that this is sending a pulse so that the diff-lock knows how fast you are going. Does anyone know what voltage this pulse is?

Thanks,
David

GQ Electric Window System

Hi,
I have a problem with the electric window system in my GQ. The driver's window works fine, but all other windows only work intermittently. I have checked the window switches with a multimeter and everything seems to be fine. The motors on the other windows work fine if I power them directly ...

You'll have to join the patrol group at
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Nissan_GQ_Patrol/ and then do a search for fuel pump leak.

Thanks all for the replies.

Is it necessary to remove the intake manifold to undo the top plate screws?

I found Nathan's write up on the patrol list about how he went about changing the seal and besides a few tricks it seems like a relatively easy job.

Leaking Fuel Pump - How much and Where (Vic)?

Hi,
The fuel pump on my TD42 is leaking around the top plate seal. I know this is a common problem with the introduction of low sulfur fuel. The truck has 190,000km on the clock and there are no other problems evident with the fuel system so I don't want to do a full pump rebuild.

Who has had their ...

Hi All,
I have just finished fitting a snorkel to my 1991 GQ diesel. I have removed the pre-cleaner and replaced it with PVC piping and silicon-rubber hoses.

Re: GQ4.2 runs to cold

any info on why a aftermarket switzer turbo 4.2 would run cold.
It usually runs at about the lower end of the temp gauge.
It didnt allways run this way it was usually at the half way mark but since fitting a heat exchanger for a shower it has dramatically droped it
If removing the heat ...

I'm sure that I heard somewhere that the VAFWDC is trying to implement a ratings system with parks whereby some tracks would be marked in a fashion similar to ski-runs. You would have green tracks, blue tracks and black tracks. I think they may be implementing this soon.

The idea is that then ...
