I'm looking at getting a Hilux, this one fits the bill price and spec wise.
They tell me its been lifted though, not sure by how much.

Are there problems involved with lifts on this car, anything I should look out for?

Ive driven the 3L with a turbo kit and it goes pretty well I thought, rather not have a turbo vehicle though for insurance cost reasons.

OK im looking to buy a Hilux but don't know which model I should be aiming for.

Not too worried about the configuration but id probably rather a single cab to get the most tray space.

Ive only had experience with an older model (80-something) and a newer 2000 3.0L.
Both were my Dad's ...

Ive heard that oily residue and crud can build up on the element, I might try giving it a clean with some solvent first.

If someone has one they want to offload I would definitely be keen though.

You might remember my stuttering/missing GV, turns out its a fault with the airflow meter.

The mechanic wants $1000 to do it...

Does anyone know what it should cost?
Does this sound like a reasonable price??

Do you reckon its worth getting used ones from a wrecker or just go new?

How much did you pay for the pack?
How did you narrow down which one it was?

I had a look at the packs and their snouts and all looks in very good nick, no hardening or cracking I could see.

Any other potential causes of this problem?

Does anyone know how often the chain/tensioners in these need to be done?

I know 100,000K is the standard interval for belt systems but not sure about these chain type ones.

Anyone had theirs done?
How much did it cost?

OK is that something that should show up on a diagnostic test or is it a matter of throwing new parts at it and see if the fault disappears?

My girlfriends car currently has a problem where the engine stutters and seems to miss now and then.
Its a 2000 model 2L Grand Vitara.

It is most noticeable when trying to take off from a stop, you can notice it slightly when cruising at 100km/h too though.

Mine a 96 1.7 (carby)

Main problems were brakes which I seemed to have fixed with a caliper rebuild kit :)

The other problem is a stuttering/hesitation at half throttle.
If stripped and cleaned the carb and it all looks OK.
Its idles fine, full ...

It was sticking on and causes heat etc so I stripped it, cleaned it, replaced rubbers & seals then bled it.

Now not only does it not work (pulls to left under brakes) but it still stays stuck on :cry:

Ive got a problem with the front right brake on my zook.
It seems to be sticking on and causes the disc to get very hot, burning smell etc.

Ive taken the caliper off to have a look, the piston moves but cannot be pushed back in by hand - how stiff should it be?

Also there is about 3-4mm ...

Dunno what the weathers like where you are but I had that problem and it was because the carby was icing up.

After stopping for a while it would warm up again and all was well.

It was because I didnt have the hose from the exhaust manifold connected (it fell off..) to the airbox.

After some shock tower cracks on my car its become apparent that the front shocks are too short and are going full travel fairly often.

There is nothing available "off the shelf" for the coily that I can find, I have heard that you can weld the spring collar onto alternate shocks though ...
