79 series diff ratios
Was just wondering if anyone has an idea or spec sheet to tell me wat diff ratios I have in my 2001 79 series ute with a 1hz motor. And then which way I would have to go with ratios to run 35s as if they were the standard tire size 7.5x16 tire????

i got the efs heavy duty ones in my 79 series and took the bottom 4 leafs out and they give an awsome ride and flex really well, but hopeless for load carring rear tank of fuel drops the ass 30mm, you want the shackle to be 90 degrees to the leaf. hope it was of some help

Good engineer to certify big lifts ???????
Just wondering if anyone has any succes with an engineer in the 3hr radius of Canberra to certify a big lift? Looking at 79 series crusier ute with 35's spring over conversion to rear with 6" lift. Re: drop shackles with spring over
Yeah, having to make a conproise with load carrying vs working well in the bush. Not really carrying anything on it now anyway. Wanted to do a full airbag converion to the rear similar to the DNA off road 75 series but the dollars are going to be too hard to come by. So settling for the spring over ...

Re: road legal lifts?
Self engineered lifts ie not done by an engineer are, rim no wider that 1" from factory, lift no greater than 1/3rd factory ride height and tires no bigger than 15mm diameter, but in terms of getting it engineered there is no restrictions only one is wat the engineer will certify for you, NSW ...

Re: Getting 33's engineered in QLD.
Not sure if helps in QLD but spoke to the NSW RTA and there is nothing that can't be engineered, the rim size, tire diameter and suspension lifts, self certified is wheel diameter no bigger that 15mm and rim 1" wider and suspension 1/3 of factory height. with the engineering of big lifts and tires ...

Re: drop shackles with spring over
Just spoke to a few engineers and it seems they will only certify a cruiser ute to a max of 75mm or 3" which is only the diff thickness and 33's are max tire size they will engineer. So spring over 79 series ute with dead flat leafs and 6" coils in front with 33's is able to be certified

Yeah got the castor covered in the front with set of dropped snake arms and got extended EFS leafs in the back just going to put it all ontop of the diff and flatten out the leafs to around the 6inch lift height then put a set of coils and shocks in the front to match
