Re: Rebuilding 80 series rear diff.
Well I found some factory service manuals online to get me sorted.
Now since I am changing out the crush collar for a solid one, can anyone recommend a starting shim thickness? (may just save me a little time).
Cheers
But none the less, thanks for the replies

How cheap could you get this job done? Understanding that it's relative to how much work you can do yourself. Just after some oppinions.
What turbo would one run? I have a virtually new turbo from a late model defender at hands (diesel yes, but useable?)

Just to clarify for my own purposes. I was under the impression that full time 4wd was not the same as AWD. Some minor technicality that I have forgotten

Re: Please help!
Well if your Prado is a full time 4wd it's no surprise if you disconnect a driveshaft all the drive is sent to that disconnected flange. No idea why the rear shaft isnt spinning when both are hooked up (if I am understanding you properly). Maybe an issue with the center diff or viscous coupling.

Re: 80 series part time conversion.
Nope, kit comes with, free wheeling hubs, gaskets for hubs, shims for axle end float and the new spool. No bearing.
Guess I will see when I get in there. Just hate to be without a vehicle for a couple days, though I highly doubt that will happen.
Cheers for the reply.

My vehicle use to run gas. It did a head (exhaust valve seats I guess or whatever the common problem is). I know the price difference is a lot of fuel but I figure Id prefer the outlay to start then the consistent shight mileage. Not to mention diesel is just easier to get out in the middle of ...

How to turn/trade an FZJ80 into a tourer.
I own a 93 FZJ80 and I have pretty much joined the ranks with the rest of the world and decided that the fuel consumption and inability to play in water is NOT in my best interests (plan to do a fair bit of touring).

Just wondering if anyone knows whether or not the spindle bushes and bearings from a 79series will suit that from an 80 series.

Haha I had considered that and as of now have wired up most of the new loom, just waiting on some relays, resistor and diode.

Re: LHS headlights dull
Fuses are definitely fine, but possibly the connections after them are not. There are 2 fuses, LHS and RHS.
Come the week end I'll throw the multimeter over everything and see what happens. Might end up going and buying some H1 and H4 connectors and solder them in.

Hi all, just replaced my high, low and parker light bulbs and now I've got an issue with the LHS low beam being dull and the LHS high beam being so dull you can barely see it.
Fuses are ok and bulbs are ok.
Thought maybe a poor ground that I may have bumped and made worse?

Haha yeah I recognized your name straight away.
That issue was regarding my o2 sensor. The 93 fzj80 i own has a vane type MAF sensor, it doesn't have a MAP sensor.
Your 92 cruiser? isn't that the 3fe motor??? mines a 1fz-fe, different kettle of fish.

Re: 1fz-fe throttle hesitation.
Wondering if my struggle to find this vacuum leak has anything to do with revs. Just found a source saying some lines won't produce vacuum until a particular rpm is reached:
"Port R from throttle body. Doesn't generate vacuum until 3000 RPM. When it does it pulls about 5.0 in/Hg."
Mind you I have ...

Re: 1fz-fe throttle hesitation.
Thanks for the reply. I just cleaned up the maf sensor and the throttle body. It improved driveability but the issue is still there, plus another code > 31 - air flow sensor.
As for how it drives, slow acceleration is fine, but once i step on it a bit more (more load) it bogs down.
