Just pull the head and have a look, one way or another it's coming off. If it's using that much coolant and not showing from the outside it's something internal. You could have done some head damage, but again you aren't going to really know until it's off and you can get it tested for cracking ...

no-one has ever touched mine; but it does look like a piece of shit if I'm leaving it for a while in a carpark or something suss, I'll lock the UHF in the glovebox... out of mind out of sight I figure - but you have to assume after a period of time something left unsecured in an open car, these days ...

I have been trying for years to fix a similar problem on mine and it's still crap. I have repaired/swapped the carb several times and it always fixes it for a month or so, and then it's back to normal.

They are just crappy, really tempremental things - but they work alright when they rarely do work.

I don't think the choice is one between black and white, I don't think it'll make a massive difference but I thought I'd ask anyways

I think I might just go with the ATs because I don't really trust a retread on low pressures and high speeds.
If I can get a 1lt case before then, I will keep the muddies on.
