Seen one in Middlemount so I had a gander, super roomy inside, could play tennis in the rear seats. Cost is reportedly 130 grand.

Sounds like a hot joint in the fuse box, might be time to replace the box with a new blade fuse box. Had that problem before.

Re: Identifying a Toyota diesel motor in FJ40
BTW, no such thing as a FJ 47. What, petrol Troopy? I have a Toota workshop manual, I will check. Petrol engined 40s were called the FJ 40 or FJ 45, regardless of whether the F or 2F engine is installed. Diesels were the BJ 40 with 3 litre B motor, BJ 42 with the 3B, HJ 45 has the H, while the HJ ...

Definitely a H donk, the oil filter is the giveaway. Plus the fuel filter being a cartridge in the canister too, the 2H fuel filter is a small spin on. Not that it's much good for anything now. Thrrrrrrrrrroooooowwww it out.

Re: Identifying a Toyota diesel motor in FJ40
Got a pic? Will be easy to tell then. The 3.6 litre H motor has the oil filter on the passenger side, paper cartridge in a steel canister, absolute MONGREL to reinstall the canister without pinching the o ring as it's on a crappy angle. I got a adaptor to change the filter to a Z416 spin on type. 2H ...

I have a 76 GXL, just ticked over 3000 kms. Really like it, but it does require a fair bit to set it up just right, which means $$$$. But I guess you'll get that no matter what vehicle you buy brand new. Good things about the 76 is that motor, it really is awesome, option of factory diff locks - I ...

Nope, '83 and '84 model shorties have a 5 speed standard.Frankenyota wrote:Does the chassis tube have to be moved to fit a 5 speed to a SWB?
With the handbrake moved to the rear wheels.

Use a 79 series handbrake cable, it's longer and fits between the rear drums just right.

Re: Bob's better Buildathon - HJ45 -with 2H doing 4sp -5sp S
Most people resort to using 60/75 series rear drums which have the handbrake built into them. Though I've also heard of people cutting that torque tube behind the gearbox and relocating back a bit further. Personally I'm not game enough to do that, so 75 series rear drums is what I have acquired.

So going by the above, paying roughly twice as much for a Steinbauer chip for a 1VD-FTV would be a total waste when some of the other products such as the Unichips you sell offer more?

Re: BJ42 EDIC Fuel Control Relay
The Hj 47 and BJ 42 use exactly the same FCR, same part number. The HJ 60 and 75 just mounts differently, but functions the same. HJ 45 and BJ 40 use a different relay and it won't fit on the 3B/2H system.

Have had 2 HJ 45 traybacks, slow and a PITA to attach power steering pumps etc. onto. I couldn't kill them no matter how hard I tried though.
A 2H is a much better motor.

Beige bro, the metallic red would've looked pretty good too, but I want a practical lighter colour. Plus almost every new 70 is either white, silver or graphite and I wanted something different. Oh and it's as close as I could get to 45 series dune beige for some nostalgia.

The removable crossmember under the gearbox might have to be moved? Not sure. If you can pull it off, the auto behind the 12ht would be ace.

Pic of the tyres in question. Tread looks exactly like the Doublestar 7.50 x 16 rag tyres I used to have on my hj 47 troopy. But bloody hell these solid tyres are heavy!
