Diff/Transfer/Final drive ratios on the Lux?
Hi All,
Does anyone have any info on the the diff/gear/transfer/final drive ratios of Hiluxes between say 1990 and 2005?? I am particularly interested in diesels. I saw there are some links in the FAQ, however they didnt work :(
Have the actual ratios changed over the years??
Cheers

A question for the experts - Humming noise!
I have a SWB GQ. Its on gas. After driving for 15 minutes or so, it SOMETIMES gets this humming noise coming from the rear right hand side. Mainly when stationary. I notiiced this noise a while back, and it continued even when the car engine was off. I didnt think much of it, as it went away. Now ...

Depends what you are after in a set of tyres. I had 35 inch Xterrains.. They were great on-road, great on dirt, strong, solid tyres. Offroad, well on rock they were good, in mud, pretty average. They seriously lack side lugs. And this effects them greatly offroad, but makes them great on road. The ...

Major Tyre Repair place Melbourne
Hi All, I put a very nasty tear in the upper side wall of one of my new tyres. I have been told i can get a 'major repair' done it on by both a friend that used to work at a tyre place, and also a tyre repairer in Sale. I am again told that this is not the job for your 'normal' tyre dealer. Does ...

Just reading through this thread and found it quite interesting. Does anyone have any updates on these new reduction sets? Or still waiting? Also, like others mentioned, my patrol does run away a little too fast on steep downhills for my liking. Its a petrol. How much will reducing the gearing help??

lpg + new snorkel install = constant stalling!! HELP!
Hi All, My GQ Shorty is on dual fuel. It was all good, all running well. Until i decided to have a Safari Snorkel installed on Friday. Now it is a disaster!! The car constantly stalls when slowing, i.e. pulling up to stop at lights. I slow down through the gears, and as soon as i have low enough ...

Hey Ash. I have a 88 GQ SWB and I bought a Milford cargo barrer 2nd hand for 100 bucks. The bloke who owned it before me had a GQ wagon and had it mounted behind his back seats. I only wanted it to mount behind my front seats as I took out the back ones for more room. The Milford fitted behind the ...

Re: GQ - How do i tell if a patrol has extractors?
I What should i look for to see if it does have extractors? First of all you need to find out if your patrol has an IFS front end and then we can help out a bit more ;) Yeap, that is the first modification I have on my list. I have sourced a place that will convert the front end to IFS. The cost is ...

Re: Help! 3 SWB patrols to choose from! Which one?
None will be cheap to run. for me the diesel. But what do you want to do with it.. ?? That would help. How long do you want to keep it? I want to keep it for a while! A long time. I think I am up to about 15 cars so far. I am sick of changing :). I want a car I can slowly build up. Something ...

Help! 3 SWB patrols to choose from! Which one?
I really cant decide. I am looking for a 'nice' swb. There are many around that are cheaper and modified. But i dont really want to buy someone else's problem. I am willing to spend a bit extra to get a good one. I am not after a 4wd with big lift, etc. Just something nice, cheapish to buy, cheapish ...

Rear or front locker. Always attracts many different opinions. Nissan LSD is good. But it is an LSD, not a locker. I would always go a rear locker first. You generally use a locker most when going up hills, and with the wieght and gravity, most traction is at the rear. Obviously a locked diff can ...

Quality of early model GQ patrols and Nissans
I have been looking around, and basically every vehicle i have seen has an leak of some description - engine oil, diff, or transmission. Is this a common issue with these older vehicles? Or is it normal due to the age?
Thanks again!

Maverick/GQ Patrol factory diff lock question
Hi All, I am looking at some SWB maverick and patrols. The last two mavericks I have seen have a factory diff lock. I am just after some information on how this works? Is it electronically activated? I turned it on in the last maverick i was in, and no lights on the dash appeared? The car manual ...
