You sure the noise is coming from the front diff? Could just be the transfer has not engaged 4WD properly. Fairly common with these transfers when worn (transfer lever linkage bushes, I think). Make sure the lever is firmly into 4H before shifting across to 4L. Easier to ensure proper 4WD engagement ...

Why even ask, Micka? We know you'll come home with another bloody Rover! :D Quick comparison on RedBook shows the two are similarly equipped, with the Prado having the edge with more airbags, 6-stacker, "cooled" glovebox, 8 seats (to carry more mates!), GPS, rack & pinion steering, "hill-holder" and ...

I have (I believe) an old, somewhat sagged, 2" spring lift in my 60 with standard shackles. No body lift. 35" Centipedes scrub the inside rear wheel arch at full up-travel and the fronts foul on the springs at full lock. Having said that, I think the rims are probably not the correct offset for a 60 ...

How many k's do you guys have with turbo 2hs? Chris :) I have heard (from an engine reconditioner, IIRC) that a 2H is good for 500K stock, but only 300-350K turbo'd. I had to replace pistons & rings on mine at 330K - according to the mod plate, turbo was fitted about 10 years previously (no idea ...

MT/Rs aren't great in mud. Good everywhere, else, though. I wish they did them in 33X10.5.

AFAIK, shot peening is performed to relieve stress in metal components - it's also applied around stubborn bolts to assist with removal. There may be other applications I am unaware of. I can't see it making any difference to how well your engine runs. It used to be popular to shot-peen at least ...

Hey Ruffy, I reckon on my 2H, the spring inside the fuel pump opens the rack to the 'overfuel' position if the relay rod is removed. Maybe mine's different (or broken). I'm not trying to be a smart-arse, but from what I have observed on mine, the test you describe is invalid (or at least any results ...

With only mild boost, the 2H will still be a very reliable motor. Add an intercooler and you will add to it's longevity. EGT's kill 'em, but you really only worry about that if you're going for maximum grunt. Someone once told me a 2H is good for 500K stock, or 300-350K turbo'd - all things being ...

35s will fit with just a 2" suspension lift - just a little scrubbing on the rear at full compression (and on the front at full lock). A little more offset on the rims might just fix the scrubbing. 2" body lift as well would be better (but might not solve the scrubbing - just move where it rubs on ...

Doing rings? Head will have to come off. It can be done in chassis. You will also need to hone the bores as they will be glazed (new rings will not bed in otherwise and you will have to do it all over again). As far as TDC goes, you should find a TDC mark on the timing cover - when the mark on the ...

I checked the exact location of the oil return that is tapped into the sump. Its only about 10mm below the top of sump...so it should be fine. The oil level at the moment is full, so I might just pull the plug off the return and see if oil spills...if there is no spill, well obviously the oil ...

Pretty sure they're not exactly the same.

Reckon at the very least the 12HT pump has a boost compensator, where the 2H pump didn't.

I'm sure one of the diesel or Yota gurus here can list all the differences and advise if there is any degree of interchangeability (yes, just I made that word up).
