maybe you answered your own questions if you say that old bald ones work as well as newies... maybe no one thinks it's worth selling them, instead running them into the ground till they buy a new set...
Possibly ;)

I met a bloke at Toolangi in a GQ shorty chassis with dark grey GU cab and Navara tub, what a ripper little bus that was.
He was driving with a fella in that Kermit green GQ shorty with GQHOON plate from memory?

The Bad,
Gearbox is a piss-weak old Sigma box, mine blew at 170K

I recently replaced my clutch (4terrain in a HJ75), along with the thrust bearing. Now i get a chirp/squeak when i put a tiny bit of pressure on the pedal, and even sometimes when there's no pressure. There is no noise when i put a decent amount of pressure on the clutch.
Does anyone have any idea ...

stoo2 what pressure do you run into the diffs and has it worked both front and rear?
Thinking of doing the same to the Disco, sick of rusted bearings. Going to connect it to the Sanden AC compressor system that is hooked up to an old water extinguisher fitted above the rear diff and which has ...

I bought a cheap 240v compressor mainly for the tank and pressure switch, A hella socket can be made to fit into the pressure switch casing, mine works well, but I just chuck it in the back of the troopy, I'm going to mount it under the car as there is plenty of room.
It shuts off power to the Max ...

I have a Troopy as well. About 6 weeks ago, before a Toolangi drive I was gonna do the same thing but we didn't get time. I fitted an inclinometer as I too am paranoid about putting it on it's side. I just welded a chuck of 100 x 100 3mm wall steel to the back of the towbar, then had the lot powdercoated and then screwed a bit of alloy floor plate on the top, It'll be easy to weld a wheel carrier on, I'll do that eventually but the ...

Mine are 5 stud toyots, about $100 each, I think the regular 6-stud jobs are cheaper.

my 78 series make a clunk in the front when I turn sharply at low speed, it did that from new. I guessed it was the coils.

That doesn't sound good, I would have thought that if your thermostat had gone you'd boil it and would know about it due to overheating pretty quick.
It makes sense though, it can't be a coincidence.

I have factory 78 series lockers, they are an electric servo job and do the job fine although they're not totally waterproof.
I bought the troopy new, and the Locker option was about the same as the cost of fitting ARB lockers.
Unless you're talking about buying a new truck, buy an air locker.

They appear to be identical.
