Idle speed adjustment - GQ Patrol on gas
G'day, The idle speed on gas of my 91' GQ Patrol is currently sitting around the 400 RPM mark and sounds slightly rough. Hoping to bump it up to around the 800 RPM mark if possible. Is it a matter of just adjusting the inline screw between the gas system and the carby? I am unsure on the brand of ...

I have run both 33' and 35' radial claws on my swb GQ. Overall I rate these tyres highly. Yes they are noisy on the road but I am not really phased by this. I find they work very well on rocks with low pressures (better than any simex I have had) In mud they work very well (but not as well as simexs ...

I can safely say that the noise will probably be due to the drive shaft geometry after you put the 4" lift in. Either invest in some longer rear lower control arms in (10-16mm), gearbox crossmember packers, adjustable upper rear arms or a double cardan rear shaft should fix the problem. Search is ...

Lifting the rear bar is easy. No drilling / cutting is required. 1. Remove bar ends (3 bolts each side I think and disconnect indicators/ brake light connectors if required) 2. Undo 4 bolts holding centre alloy step to bar ends. 3. Undo 4 bolts retaining centre recovery point. 4. Lift centre alloy ...

Warn low mount freespool resistance
G'day.. I recently decided to regrease the inside of my M8000 low mount as I thought it was in need of a service. Anyway, I packed it full of new grease and put it back together to find that in freespool, it was hard to turn over by hand. I thought that I may have packed too much grease into the ...

I had similar problems with one of my Rancho 9000's. Found that the shock had no resistance any more. With that I took it back and they rejected the warranty claim based on the fact that the shock had over extended. Was on a pretty standard GQ at the time. I dont think that I had abused them at all ...

16mm longer control arms
Gday, I have a set of 16mm longer than standard rear lower control arms for a SWB GQ. I have a 3" spring and 2" body. Still have my rear quarters too. With a set of 35x12.5x15 Claws, will the tyres rub chronically on the rear guards? Should I sell the 16mm arms and get 10mm ones instead? I havent ...

My old man is in the same position as you with his starter motor on his TB42. The auto elec said that to rebuild the starter motor with a new cog would cost almost as much as a new starter motor itself. Whether you would believe that is another story. I think a new starter motor is around the high ...

GQ Grille
Gday,
My old grille is looking pretty tacky and I need to get another one. Awhile back I saw some of the plain grey grilles (no logos / badges) on ebay for around the $150 mark.
Do any shops sell these?
cheers
James

What are you trying to achieve by fitting the body lift? Fit bigger tyres? Im also trying to work out how to lift the gas tank. Its looks pretty involved. I have already lifted my rear bar which took a whole 20 mins, and my bullbar which cost a couple of hundred bucks. You could buy raised engine ...

i just found this topic.
When I first connected the wire to the armiture 'A', the stud was loose.
Could this be the cause of the problem? As the wire inside the housing may have shorted.

Warn M8000 Winch Trouble Shooting
Hi, I just acquired a second hand Warn M8000 D1 winch. All F1, F2, A and +ve and -ve leads run to their respective locations, but when I try to run the winch, nothing happens. I have concluded the winch drum seems ok as it free spools freely, I cant even hear a click coming from the solenoid box ...

body lift dramas
Hi, Im currently installing a 2" body lift to my 88' SWB GQ. I have undone all 8 bolts holding the body to the chassis and have removed rad shroud, loosened brake/clutch lines, loosened steering spline, etc and it should now lift off the body. BUT! When i put 2 jacks under the sills and try to lift ...

LPG TB42 Problem - Ignition?
Gday, As of late when running on gas, my TB42 Carby/Gas will sometimes play up. It varies from the car cutting out at lights (rarely occurs), or when im doing 100kmh down the freeway the tacho will drop from ~2200rpm to 1000rpm and quickly back to ~2200rpm. The major problem im having is when its ...

Installing snorkel on LPG motor
Hi, I currently have a 88' TB42 Maverick with an Impco Gas system (Mixer sits on top of the carby) and subsequently, the air filter is exposed to dust, water and mud. What I want to know, is whether there is an off the shelf air filter cover that houses the mixer and runs straight to the snorkel ...
