Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Looking for some reccomendations for a machine shop in brisbane that can cut splines on some 4340 axles.

Have the axles already and all the dimensions, just need a good machine shop.

they are an exact copy of the micky thompson baja claw. i had the baja claw, exact same size too, on my wt sierra with 15x8 rims and i loved them. just scraped at full lock but only minor. width was fine.

they are soooooo durabale too and take a flogging on sharp rocks. they are slipery on the ...

i have seen them in action once on a vit.

they worked great traction wise on dry rocks and loose dirt.

only problem was the width. even the owner agreed they were too wide for a zook.

Can anyone give me a brief rundown on how to tension this thing?

I can see the tensioner puller and it has a bit of threaded rod doing through behind it but it doesnt push against anything.

It looks like something is missing.

Its in a 60 series.

Then you need to buy a gearbox adaptor (PM BenT) and sort out your wiring.. either do it yourself or send it to someone like Killalux and he will return it ready to plug ...

Just push it straight down to one side of them then flip it back to the right way up.

Dont be afraid to bend it, it will pop back into shape.

i used 50x8mm flatbar cut to 150mm lengths. 100mm eye-eye and M12x90 G8.8 bolts with nyloc nuts.

Cost about $6 per shackle.

I wouldnt use them if your chasing lift or more space for tyres though. I only extended mine because my shackles were inverting.

I personally wouldnt do this on the front ...

Will the rear door have rounded window corners?

Not possible without a bodylift or body modification as the fuel filler goes over the chassis rail. Exhaust will have to be changed depending how yours is currently set up.

There is a bit of cutting and welding, and its under the car so its not exactly easy access ...

are you running stock rear lights?

i had a similar problem from corrosion in my rear lights. Pull the cover off and take a look inside, mine were full of mud and rust.

does a patrol have 12 inches of compression travel in stock form? no.

Put some stock springs and tyres on and get your roady. Good luck finding a qld mechanic who would put there name down on a rwc for a 4 inch lifted patrol on 35s.

you dont have to fabricate any mounts with the kit from bent, you use the 1.3 passenger and 1.6 driver from memory.

Its in the instructions.

I called a few places today and they want $120 for a 16x8 sunny to fit an 80 series cruiser. I have heard lots of people paying like 50-70 per wheel.

Just wondering where to go in brisbane to get these 50-70 dollar wheels?

I just bought new 6.5 gears from locktup4x4.com.au

They were $760 to my door. took about 7 working days for delivery from the US.

I have a brand new rear wheel bearing on what i thought was a WT axle, turns out its actually fomr a NT :x Should have measured it up first bit i didnt have anything to compare it to at the time.

Is it possible to remove the new bearing without damaging it so i can save some $$? any tips?

are you using the primer pump to get diesel up to the injectors or are you just cranking it?

checked the fuel filter? could be full of sludge from the bottom of your tank.

I have a '89 2H 60 series with some problems.

It was going up a very steep very long hill and started pouring white smoke out the back (possibly coolant?) when it got to the top it stopped and now will not start. The engine was very hot.

The radiator cap is rusted solid. It turns over nice and ...

So i replaced the bushes and its still doing it.

just to clarify:

New OME springs
New bushes
Stock length shackles
Shocks are not the problem

At ride height shackles are sitting a bit lower than 45 degrees, with any bounce on the car they go past horizontal and lock up against the chassis ...
