For the style of driving you want they are ideal. Forget most of the the crap from the people on here who have not driven one of these. I have taken my lux through plenty of places that patrol and cruider owners would never even consider. A few mods is all it takes to transform there ability. As for ...

I'm with MMaaxx here. I have one and with a good lift and protection plates they are great. Your not going to climb rock walls but with a bit of thought and careful wheel placement they will go nearly anywhere you want. Not to mention a pretty comfy ride for a ute and great economy on the road.

Some people have reported clutch problems even from low k's but I have had no problems after 100k. There is a recall for the bonnet latch which requires reinforcement so ensure this is done. Other than that they are an excellent base for a tourer. Much better load space in the tub than the Triton ...

I've got a Burke and Wills Redgum and it is fantastic. Hoops at each end and opens top to toe. Also can get in and out via top or end. I have back problems too so I changed the mattress for a 75mm self inflating "4wd mat" that makes it very comfortable. When rolled up its about 10% larger but 200 ...

You can actually use the standard Holden computer and several places can reprogram them to suit. Absolute plug and play as well as factory options like lean burn for good economy on the highway. NOt to mention factory reliability.

There are actually no rules specifically regarding the building of home made trays by the RTA.

However all vehicle ADRs such as light emmitence angles apply as well as the need to use sound engineering practises and rules regarding the maximum sizes of the vehicle.
