Yes it can be used with other simple type converters, The B2 style converter im pretty sure was based on the old IMPCO L (could be wrong its been a while), main difference is the B2 is usually fitted with a lighter spring on the primary side I think.

Why would would bother when a genuine new B2 is ...

Depending on how much boost, compression timing, coil and ignition type you won't find a definate answer but I usually run .65 to .8, gapping 1.1's down to .65 might be a bit much though.

i wouldnt go the RB25 but a RB30 in a gq is hardly crap of road, check vid below and this was with near bald all terrains.......this car had left some much bigger setups winching while it "struggled" up :roll:

Ive had mine on 3 separate dynos all dyno dynamics and had figures all with in 10kw highest to lowest, all at similar altitudes and winter runs, also at nearly 2.5 tonne even on 10 pound it was running 6.2 secs 0-100 so i'm not doubting it made good power for what it was....the new owner doesn't ...

Your right if you wheel in mud you kill them lots, I do at least 1 a year, search twin turbo patrol on here from memory he moved em to the top on drivers side, I was to lazy and just rebuild them.

if you research the RB series engines, the RB stands for "race breed".
the RB30 was designed for forced induction, just look at the block, it has provisions for oil & water lines to a turbo, full girdle bottom end. you can push big HP out of a stock engine with only minor mods and they love it.

Built a new motor 6 weeks ago, new turbo cam, high comp again new extractors and of course all internals, so much better than the old one, it was getting a lot of blow by in the end lol, but now comes the pain in my ass.....

Its not beefed up, its actually the same box in 2wd form, people always say how weak they are, I've broken about 5 and its not easy, a good fresh one will take the power quite well, I've covered it a few times on here.

I didn't bother, I'm keeping the GQ and currently building a new twin cam RB30 hoping to push 350-400 rwkw so I've started collecting the adapters to put a turbo 400 behind it and not waste anymore time destroying clutches and gearboxes.
