Re: 79 series coil conversion????
Am a little unsure with the reasoning. I don't mean to sound rude. (if it comes off that way) Why bother cutting up a 100 series axle to turn it into a 79 series axle? If the only reason is to keep the mounts on the housing? Then you are going to cut them off anyway to make an A frame? I'd keep ...

Re: Engine conversion for 40/45 series
A 304 will do the job but don't expect anything spectacular in standard form. But as mentioned above they have alot of options to play with. They sound awesome. Can be bought cheap. Not a bad option. But just because it has 8cyl does not mean it has more power. If you are swapping from 4spd to 5spd ...

Re: Engine conversion for 40/45 series
In Victoria you don't need an engineers certificate if the replacement engine is of the same configuration and has similar power output and chassis mounts are left untouched. Making falcon Inline 6's a very cost effective and wise choice. But I think a 1FZ would be an awesome swap into the old 45 ...

Re: 60series diffs under a hilux help??
I believe they are 70mm wider. So about 3 inches as mentioned above. "long side same length, short side 3 inches longer" comment. So to answer the original posters question. One would assume the front driveshaft would be offset 1.5 inches to the passenger side.

Re: BJ40 5 speed
Landcruiser 4 speeds have a 1:1 ratio in 4th gear. Assuming you have 4.11:1 ratio final drives and 33 inch tyres, regardless of engine you put in, the input shaft is still required to spin at ~2600rpm @ 100km/h. Even with 31's at 100km/h the 4 speed will only spin at 2775rpm. A 5 speed will reduce ...

Re: 105 Series Landcruiser Rims and Offset Question
i have 305/70 MTZ on mine on 16x8s. they still have plenty of clearance between anything that looks like it will rub. unsure of exact offset. but they are sitting out a bit further than std.

if you want a quality brand of intercooler, i got the one for my 105 series from http://www.are.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Couldnt be happier. very good read up on their website and lots of research explaining alot about why its (most of the time) pointless to get cheap ...

Isnt the round crossmember behind the transfer going to be an issue in mounting the 5 speed in an earlier 45? The 5 speeds are roughly 75mm longer than the 4 speed, well the 4spds out of the later 45 series anyway. Not too familiar about earlier ones setup sorry. But you should be able to get the ...

the only 308 that comes close to your claim makes 418@3600, and that's the VK group A one... F's make closer to 300... and my argument wasn't "don't go v8" my point was more that a drag motor should stay in a street car, and even a standard 308 would be a better choice than the drag motor... on 36 ...

The doors will fit. If the 308 was used for drag racing it will likely operate best at peak revs, not ideal for 4x4 where low down torque is key. Just keep that in mind, you may be able to alter that with cam and carb changes. There is always gearing to help counter this. Plus the 308s probably got ...

A mates GU did that too. Was about 1000km old. They tried not refunding with the same excuses as those described. He ended up getting his money back and putting the LSD back in. Tried a quick trip around google. Apparently they are a confusing M24 stamp on them. Seems to be a few sizes and combo's with that stamp. Brought up a few questions, is it water cooled or just oil cooled? What exhaust flange style is it, and what does it measure. Most of the sites i found seem to ...

As for the first question i think personaly that 3" is a good lift as it doesn't require huge mods eg brake lines sway bars extensions adjustable panhards etc. and they handle much better. I had 5" lift in my 80 for around a month before replacing it with 3". I run standard 16x8 steel rims with 35s ...

Re: 100 Series Lift, Turbo Questions
Hi, I am doing a suspension lift on my 100 series very shortly. I am just wondering what size lift is a good height to roll 35's. I have been looking into a 4" or 5". Just wondering your thoughts and if possiable post pictures! Also has anyone turboed their 100 series 1FZ? Do they make good power ...

I turbo'd my 4.5L 105 and its making 182kw @ the wheels. Through an auto with no intercooler running on 33s with a very rich tune. So rich it stalls at the lights. <--not good. Some of their stuff is expensive but most of it is pretty good. Most of it is good in theory. The rest you have to modify to make it work. And they try telling you that their weld in, replacement engine mounts dont work because you aren't using their bellhousing, even though you have the engine in ...

i believe when an engine is tuned to gas it needs done under load 95% of gas installers just rev the car to tune it believing this is under load. you need to have it dyno tuned for best results, in my honest opinion though you will never get it to run as good as the petrol if you want it to run on ...

im assuming youre talking about the supercharged v6 out of the commodore. its a pretty crap engine. a std naturally aspirated BA falcon motor puts out more power and torque. Id say its too small a gain in performance for the effort required to put it in. if youre going to all that trouble anyway, go ...
