2000 MK triton V6

G'day, all. The missus and I have found a 2000 model MK Triton GLS for sale, around the $13000 mark with 170,000kms on the clock. The exterior is rough, but the driveline seems really smooth during a drive, no rattles on cold start, etc. Dumb question - is there any weaknesses we should specifically ...

Mate, dealing with getting these tyres right now, though not in that size. The pirelli site should tell you whether they make them at all, and Fourbys seem to be doing a pretty good price for us (we're after 225/75x16, undecided about AT or ATR yet). Some of the guys down in Mexico have shipped ...

Also noticed Fourbys at Moorooka do servicing, and I need a few tyres too - how are they on the spanners? A one-stop-shop would be handy.

Mechanic in Brisbane? Recommendations?

Does anyone have any recommendations of a good, trustworthy mechanic in the brisbane area with experience with fourbies? We're around Indooroopilly, but willing to drive if it's worth it. We've had trouble in the past with useless mechs, and we're sick of it. The missus had a fantastic one in Wagga ...

VS and VT did, too - all Ectotec V6's. As pointed out, the internals are different to the NA. More relevant, though - the VN (series 2) -VR 3800 V6's came supercharged in the US, maybe it would be possible to source some parts from there. Those are called the Series 2 V6, different from the series 1 ...

Paydirt, sent. :) gp - yeah, that's what I thought. Which one is the better motor? I was hoping we got the DOHC here, should be a fairly easy swap for the twin-turbos on a 3000GT, but I haven't seen anything to say we did. All anyone says is 6G72, don't know a lot about them. When did Mitsi switch ...

Don't dismiss the Scorpion ATs so easily, fordy1! They're good on Tritons too, eh Rockwolf? I put a second-hand (75% tread) set on my LWB Sierra in 2002, replaced them with new Scorpions 2-1/2 years ago. I can't speak for Scorpion A/T's on a Vit, but on Tritons the Missus' family swears by them. One set's got over 150k km's on them, including a round-australia trip, and still have some tread left. :)

Depends on what the overall increased tyre diameter is for the 35's over stock - the diff ratio needs to be approximately the same increase over your current ratio to correct the speedo. Say for 20% higher overall diameter, your diff ratios need to be 20% higher to correct. Otherwise, maybe there ...
