Yep just unplug them. You can still play with the switch if you want, it just won't do anything.

Should be OK.
If they are the same motor it will fit. Just need to swap all the bits off the dead motor onto the new one.

Re: Electric Locker Issue
Yeah, sometimes my front engages before the rear. I just drive it a bit to get the rear in. If it doesn't engage at all it would probably be an issue with the actuator on the diff. Have a look here.. http://sleeoffroad.com/technical/tz_diff_lock_actuator.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return ...

Re: Electric Locker Issue
Factory lockers I'm guessing? The lights will flash until they have engaged. If the rear flashes and the front is on solid when both are turned on it's usually the gears on the rear locker are not lined up and can't engage, you need to drive around a corner or slip one of the rear wheels to get it ...

100 series diff lock ECU
I'm struggling a bit to find the factory diff lock ECU on a 2003 100 Series cruiser.
I have had a look in the electrical wiring workshop manual and it seems it's in the dash sort of behind the passengers airbag. Has anyone actually had one of these out to confirm this before I rip it apart?

I'm not too sure what's causing your problem but yes, the transfer can be replaced while the gearbox is still in the vehicle.

Re: 80 series fuel gauge
Something similar just recently happened to my diesel 80. Turns out one of the baffles in my main tank had torn off at all but 1 of the spots it was spot welded onto the tank. So it was flapping about in the tank and it had gotten the sender unit float caught on the top of it. All it took was 10 ...

Have you priced up Bendix or similar for the Mirage? I can't imagine they would be heaps for a smaller car. And when it comes to something like brakes do you really want to be stingy and get the cheapest option? I like the slogan my local brake shop has... "It's a nuisance when your car won't start ...

Yeah my guess would be your flasher unit could be the problem. Just check all your flasher globes work then have a closer look at the flasher unit its self.

Re: Power steer and Auto using 1 cooler?
I don't think the coolers would be on the high pressure side, but one thing that could be a problem is a difference in the fill levels, power steer reservoir is a lot higher than the fill level of an auto trans, what would stop the fluid bleeding off into the auto and over filling it and leaving ...

Re: squeal when turning left
A few more ideas... I'm guessing you have checked power steering fluid level - if not try that. Check all your belt tensions, and see if there is any grit embedded in the belt too. The grit can get stuck on the belt from muddy water crossings and then slip on the pulleys. - This happened to me a ...

My 1HD-T 80 series had all of the dash lights flickering at one stage. Turned out there was dirt in the alternator plug which I had replaced a few weeks earlier. Aparrantly this can also be an alternater dying. But this was my diesel so I'm not sure if the petrol is the same. Might be worth checking ...

When you say you've seen an after market kit, do you mean a wheel bearing kit or some other locking device completely?

If you already have the 16" rims wouldn't it be cheaper to buy just tyres to suit the rims than to buy new tyres and rims in 15"?
As other people have said, there isn't too much difference between the 2.

Re: why are the tyre sizes limited on a 16" rim?
Yeah I get that. What I'm saying is I had 2 sets of rims, 15x8 and 16x8. I was looking at either 315/75R16 for the 16's or 35x12.5R15 for the 15's. (Both pretty much the same OD) Tyre manufactures say not to mount 35x12.5R15's on a rim, 8.5" is minimum width. I know this doesn't stop people its just ...

Re: why are the tyre sizes limited on a 16" rim?
I recently got some 315/75R16 for some 16x8 rims I had is the shed and the reason I got them and not 35x12.5R15 to go on the rims I had on the car was because the minimum rim with for 315 is 8" where as the 35x12.5R15 needed to be mounted on at least a 8.5" rim. So if you want to keep it kind of ...

I don't see how loosening the kingpin bearings would make it any easier to get the CV out. It's not like they make the opening any bigger... Maybe the CV is a cheap after market one made a tiny bit smaller to cut costs? You have to take the king pins out. The bearings are recessed into the top of ...

Re: Issues With Big Offsets?
Yeah this is true. The factory offset rims are designed to put most of the load on the inner of the 2 bearings (the bigger one). If you have the rims sticking out further than factory it puts more load on the outer bearing (the smaller one) and it wears out quicker. But your new rims aren't that ...
