Lots of people have used lots of different ones. The WRX are a popular one, and the Nissan skyline one and the Mazda RX series. There some different setups here: http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/performance.htm All on surfs but similar setup on the lux. They start about half way down.

Uni joints, or a bent tailshaft, or unbalanced tailshaft. I had a vibration in my surf and it was the tailshaft, had lost a weight, had Repco engineering in bris fix it.

Nope, I have coils in the rear of mine. The pinion angle was a lot more when I had 4" lift in the rear and taking the big springs out and putting 3" in there has brought it on, so am thinking it may be a side effect of this ??

The surf was left to sit for about 4 weeks when I went overseas and the rear pinion started leaking when I got back, so it kind of started after that. ????

Thats why I am trying to sort the vibration, don't want it to bugger up the rest of the driveline.

everything from the 2.4 will bolt straight up to the 2.8 so you shouldn't have a problem, the only thing to get re-jigged will be the pump, so highway diesel will know what to do. I have heard you can use the surf pump and just change the resistors in the pump, some of the surf guys in Perth have ...

You could try flushing the gearbox aswell, I had a similar problem on my lux a while ago, flushed the gearbox and changed the slave cylinder (which i think is around $38) and it made a big difference.
worth a try

Hey mate, yep, going to use hi tensile bolts.
Yep I did make a carrier, but it's too heavy when the truck is loaded up, the 4wd systems one is much lighter, plus it was relativly cheap second hand.

A few people have borrowed that design, it works well.
