Re: 1fz-fe throttle hesitation.

Nah mine was built in October 1992 so it has the 1fz-fe but it has an AFM instead of a MAF. It took nearly 6 months and lots of cash thrown at it only to find the problem was covered under warranty  Good luck with your 4by, I know how much of a pain it is to find a fault when all the obvious ...

Re: 1fz-fe throttle hesitation.

If I recall you had a similar thread on 4wdaction? I was posting in there as well because I had a similar issue. Do the 1993 cruisers have a MAP sensor? My 92' didn't originally but one was installed when I had the Sprintex supercharger fitted and I had exactly the same symptoms as you and after ...

Take it to a good LPG mechanic and get it tuned to start off with.

Re: 80series gearbox cracked

I had a similar thing with the drain plug hole on my 80 series gear box, some tool had tightened the drain plug too much, stripped the thread and cracked the housing . I took it to a transmission place and they welded the crack and put a thread insert in the drain hole, cost about $100.

Re: LANDCRUISER 4.5L SUPERCHARGED OWNERS

Do you find the power quite notchy thru the rev range or is yours just a smooth progressive power I find the power to be smooth through the rev range, no issues with that. How long has it been since installing it...What air filter do you have in it It's been just over 10000k's since it was ...

Re: LANDCRUISER 4.5L SUPERCHARGED OWNERS

My 80 series has a Sprintex kit. It's a 92 model so it' was a little harder to tune that a later model because it has an AFM instead of a MAF, well that's what the installer said anyway. I'm also running an Omegas VSI system with it and believe it or not, it actually goes harder on LPG than petrol ...

Re: 80 series noisy gearbox

VMX-M did nothing good for my gearbox, I put it in after a lot of people on various forums recommended it to help with difficult shifting. The gearbox started making some funky noises and it did not help at all with shifting. I took it to a transmission place and they told me it's too thin for those ...

Re: Boost Gauge for Supercharger

Thanks for that. I should be right installing the gauge, the throttle body is on the back of the supercharger and the outlet pipe of the supercharger goes directly to the manifold so I should be able to tap into that pipe somewhere?

Boost Gauge for Supercharger

Hi there, I've just had a Sprintex supercharger kit installed on my petrol 80 series and was thinking of getting a boost gauge for it. First question would be is it even possible? I know you can put them on a turbo setup pretty easily but haven't really seen much about having one with a supercharger ...

Weird Clicking Noise from 80 Series Dash

Hi guy's, Sorry if this sounds vague but one of you may have had this issue previously and being a relatively new Toyota owner it may also be a common problem. I have a 1992 80 series 1fz-fe petrol and it's just started making a clicking noise from the dash cluster area but only when I am ...

Thanks for the replies. I just took it for a test drive and I will not be buying it.

There's not much difference power wise compared to my 4.2l petrol GQ and it needs a heap of work to get it up to scratch.

cheers

5l and ls1 same marks4wd kit?

Hi guy's, I am considering buying an 80 series that has an injected 304 holden engine in it. It's cheap enough so I was considering replacing the 5.0l with an ls1. It's a manual and has been fitted using a marks4wd kit and all the wiring has been done as well. I was wondering if the ls1 can use the ...

Is it on LPG and does it do it on both gas and petrol? If it only does it on gas you may need a balance tube between the gas mixer and the snorkel. There is a fair bit of info on it on the patrol4x4 forums.

I'd say it's one less thing to worry about. Is it petrol/LPG? If so and he is on the level and did it recently and properly then he may have saved you a lot of cash in the near future getting the head redone.
