Tired Engine

I have a 90 sierra softtop that is showing signs of being clapped out. Blow ing smoke after engine braking and the like. It still starts and runs smooth and I can still get her up to around 110 on the flat.

Generally when I go out driving I go out with the MJOC as the other car is a Jeep.

Last ...

Engine Compression

I have searched and there are few different figures that come up for the normal pressure when a compression test is done. They vary from 140 -170.

I am getting the donk's compression (1.3L 1990 Sierra) checked out on Friday and would like to know what is considered good and bad compression. Any ...

I imported a BESTOP air freight from RRO in the US for around $400 including import duty (15%) and GST. It took about 2 weeks. There were a number of companys that would do it around that price.

At the top of the windscreen are the rubber stops for when it is laid down. I fashioned a small bracket that is mounted using the existing screws from the driver side one of these. I bought the cheapest rubber whip aerial ...

Took it for a spin and couldn't get it to smoke (not that you can find seriously steep hills in the city)

I have also added Nulon Stop leak and and been offroad with no smoke.

The question is which fixed it???

It had looked like a terminal problem the other week and now I v.happy.

Resetting ECM

I was reading on another site (Ausjeep) about resetting ECU/ECMs after modifying exhausts/air intakes etc, so that it takes into account the new changes. For the jeep they say disconnect the battery and turn the ignition to remove residual power/current. Reconnect and drive normally for 15mins to ...

Extractors - warm airduct

The standard exhaust manifold has a recirculation line back to the airintake. Some extractors have a connection for it and some don't. I understand that is there to recirculate the warm exhaust air when it is cold to maintain a constant temp air flow to the engine.

Is the connection important ...

I have searched and there is a lot of info about 4-2-1, tri-Y, etc

The recommended exhaust size appears to be 2" and a V6 commodore cat is a cheap replacement for the sierra and a straight thru type muffler seems the go.

I took it for a spin early this morning and on the flat I can get her up to around 120. I don't think that she would go much more unless the road was very long.

Put a hill or head wind in front of her and watch the speed dissappear.

About to get around to changing the oils and adding breathers and noticed that the drain and fillers have a square type fitting. Do you need a special tool to remove them or is there a simple tool like a 1/2" socket driver that you can use to remove them.

Was the steering off centre while ...
