Have you consdered 1HDT? I've got one of those in my 73 and it goes like the clappers. Haps ot torque and at arround 13-14L per100 it's quite economical. I think those motors put out approx 165bhp and arround 360Mn of torqe at 2000rpm.

Painting

If you do not have the place to paint in you can propably hire a spey booth... Much cleaner than any shed/garage and better venitlation. Less paint in your nostrils, cleaner air supply etc...

Muffler

Hi

I would recomend you get a sports muffler put on it. It will give you a nicer note. i tend to beleive that Turbo mufflers shoud stay on turbo vehicles... A good non turbo sports muffler should be what you need.

1HDT Identification

Hi all, Re: Dumbdunce's question I wound like to know the build date of the engine because i intend to change the valve stem seals on it. It's puffuing a bit of smoke after it's sat arround idling for a while then once i get going it stops. I'm hoping that will fix it and if not I'll get the turbo ...

No Muffler

Hi Guys... Here's my 5cents worth. I ran my old non turbo patrol without a muffler and found it to be quite noisy (Too noisy for the boys in Blue), Also I noticed a big decline in performance. I beleive all engines requise some back pressure (which is usually privided by the muffler) removing the ...

60 series diff on 74 Middy?

What would it take to fit the wider 60 series diffs on bj 74 series Mid Wheel Base? Would the benefits of the wider wheelbase outweigh the issues or difficulties in fitting the diffs in? Has anyone done this before?

Assuming it's the detroit type locker and it's only short trips between tracks etc. it shouldn't be a problem. Mate of mine has detroits front and rear, the rear has not given him any issues so far.... As long as you can get used to driving with one.....

Thanks for the handy hints Andrew. The auto that sits in it is the 80 series that came with the motor. I'm not too familiar with the "rocking horse shit". Are you saying the TD flywheels are no good? I think i'll try to get the h150, sounds like a simpler transplant. What would I expect to pay for ...
