Intermittent cooling problem where the needle will climb past half way.

It's okay when it's moving at speed, it's just when it's crawling.

Oil appears to not have any water in it so I am assuming the head gasket is ok.

It's not using any water so I am assuming the radiator itself is water tight ...

WTF @ hosing the motor down to cool it off.

Who on earth does that to any motor???? (or hot surface)

wouldnt be surprised if the-
indicators a brake.
turn the steering wheel left and it goes right.
regardless of turning circle any park takes at least three points.
it doesnt go faster than 50.
all the indicators are fake, so ya never really know where ones going.
push the accelerator and it takes ...

Thought I would try here because it's not really a for sale ad.

I have a red 1991 2.8L Turbo Isuzu MU.

Mechanically it's great, it's always started well and even the air con is freezing cold still!

It is factory except for the following third party modifications:

1. Drivers door is ...

before you do anything, space the rear of the bonnet up about half an inch.
that way you will know if removing teh air from the enginebay will help you much.

My bet is that it will reduce temps dramatically.
BUT.

if you every blow something in your enginebay, its going to be all over your ...

2. snorkels
3. dual battery trays
4. lift kits similar to calmini setup

You'll need the bonnet scoop as well to aid with cool air flow.

And it will need the fuel adjusted accordingly to make use of the cooler intake to see any real power gains.

Without the fuel adjusted, it will be almost negliable difference (except maybe your exhaust temps will be lower).

I got a suburu water / air intercooler sitting here if anyone wants to buy it.

Comes with the water pump; radiator, brackets and some of the piping.

You already have the motor out you may as well set it up right now.

Can't cost that much for the bottom end, the head work might cost a bit though.

But money well spent, because it will be a rock solid motor and will cop as much thrashing as you can give it.

Would be a huge pain in the ass to do ...

$10 to list it for sale in the trading post after you have modified it with all the above

Lots of ricers do this becuase its the drift look - it started because you have to lift the bonnet to fit an RB20 or RB25 into a silvia, it's got sweet fuck all to do with helping cooling.

You actually make it worse by lifting it, so dont lift the bonnet, it has a rubber seal for a reason --> to ...

The only way you are going to get peak power from this motor is to spend big money on it. If you aren't prepared to do that then you are never going to push it to it's limits and you may as well just go with a well set up TMIC.

You gotta remember it's a 4wd, it's made to go off road, you want it to ...
