If you look at it from the front there is a mount on the right hand side underneath it to the engine so it can move with it. Bit hard to see in the pics.phippsy wrote:What is the 13B intercooler mounted too? Would it be better mounted off of the engine somehow to move when the engine moves.

Have done this conversion myself, you will need a new clutch coz the 2.8 is bigger, need the 2.8 alt, the manifolds are different unless you have a 2L with a steel rocker cover. Sumps are interchangeable if you don't get the right one on the 2.8. The clutch fan is different but can made made to fit ...

Wiring is all the same, I took mine to the auto elecy to have the alternator wired as the 3L has a built in regulator, cost $50 for that. The radiator is more than ample, engine mounts are the same, fuel lines are the same to. Yes a 3L does have a manual primer, use your existing one from the 2L ...

Have done this conversion in my hilux. Simple swap, everything bolts in no trouble, you will however need a 3L clutch as the 2L is somewhat smaller, the 3L alternator and clutch fan is different to 2L as well. As for the turbo, what 2L have you got it on now? If it is the earlier one with a alloy ...

Timing Problem
I replaced the timing chain on my 95 NJ Paj 4M40 yesterday. The problem I have is I thought i had it on TDC before removing chain but the Harmonic balancer had spun and is stuffed, therefore it wasn't on TDC. I didn't realise until I had the chain off. Then to add to my dilema the book says there is ...

Alternator and tacho difference in LN65
Have just installed a 3L into my LN65 Hilux instead of the tired 2L. The tacho does not appear to be reading correctly now. Is there a way to adjust it? Also the charge light stays on now as well. I have the 3L alt fitted. Are the regulators different between the 2L and 3L?
Cheers,
Matt

Definatley your clutch is buggered. I had the same problem with the rear main seal leaking in my 2.4. Get yourself a new clutch kit, rear main seal and a spigot bearing. A lot of people don't replace the spigot bearing but for $8 or so it saves you having to pull the box out again when it starts ...

Hi had the same problem in my 84 lux. I went and got a 85amp commodore alt and made up a coupla brackets and mounted it where the air con is spose to sit. Put another charge light somewhere in the dash to hook it to and you beauty never have to worry about either battery going flat.

turbo whistle
Muddylux, I have a ct20 on my hilux and it wouldn't whistle much so I took the muffler off and replaced it with a hotdog and then dumped it out just behind the cab. Its only 2" pipe but everyone looks as I come up the street now. Got heaps of whistle and the exhaust is still not very loud.

Mate, there is a screw on the back of the injector pump that has a wire seal around it to stop it from turning, you need to turn that srew 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Can't remember which way to turn it but after you turn it while the car is sitting at idle rev it up and if you see a fair amount of black smoke ...
