Looking into this becouse I know somone who has a complete front
diff for a GU with an air locker fitted, I can get it for a resonable price but just wanting to see if I can put the air locker in my GQ.
Or he might just have to sell it :roll:

Your SWB wold tow fine, I have towed 2.5t with a SWB and if the trailer is loaded properly it is fine. Just be carfull in queensland you can only tow aparantly 3/4 the gvm not nessesarily the stated towing capacity, fith wheel with give you more capacity but only if the vehicle can take it in the first place

Go the turbo, but for peace of mind have a compresion test done on the engin, fitted the tubo to mine at 300 000 and is going greate guns, I fitted the Denco swizer kit, fitted it myself in one day and cost nothing like $8k

I like to call the 3.0l a hand grenade motor becouse the longer you hold it the more likely it is to blow up in your face, have known of quite a few first hand that have all blown up. the milage may change but usually before 200,000km

I pritty shure it is not the turbo as I have just fixed that up, the smoke is pure black and lots of it which is why i am pritty shure it is the fuel adjustment.

My understanding is that it is pre 95 TD42 are the same intetnals as the TD42T but the post 95 TD42 has lighter pistons and maybee some other internals. the TD42Ti is the new intercooled motor with electronic controled injector punp, under the skin there all prity much the same. I don't know why people still like the 3.0L my experiance is there still a handgrenade motor and the longer you keep them the more likely to have them blow up in your face ...
