Rear Clunk

I have read through a bunch of other articles about similar 'sounds' coming from the rear and it looks like there are a couple of possible causes. Since I don't exactly know much of the terminology was hoping that someone could narrow it down a bit further and advise on some checks. It is a 97 coily ...

regular jack does fine with a rubber block. Why not go to a local mechanic, I asked if i could borrow two for a weekend, bought him a case of beer! Two is worth it if you can get em, just take it slow, and if the body stops moving, stop everything, walk around the car, check brake lines, cables etc ...

Was a fun drive home, though the carby was more of an issue than the diff.

Not sure if this helps, and IMO it looks worse in real life. Going to attempt to bend it back tomorrow night unless anyone strongly advises otherwise. http://r6design.net/Projects/TN_01C96009C69E39001231565827030DA8%20copy.jpg http://r6design.net/Projects/TN_01C96009BD14D1001231565F27030DA7%20copy ...

Ok awesome, sounds like something I should of done a week ago.

What kind of diffs can I throw on the front of a 96 coily sierra. Only other coily diffs? Im worried it may be hard to get another coily diff, specially from pick 'n' payless.

Danke!

Bent Diff

Hey all, Was up playing on the dunes and got a bit ahead of myself coming down a dune. Sorta resulted in a face plant of sorts in the sand. On closer inspection it seems like I have put a lovely bend in my front diff on the left hand side. It is very noticeable and has caused a nice slant to the ...

If it breaks there's a r chance it could smash its way into the cabin or hit the ground and lever the car onto its roof. Don't do it. These are a precision part - the rebate and spigot on the yoke and flange are pretty critical. I wouldn't even use alloy, let alone nylon. Steve. Just to comment on ...

Besides the fact that this isn't exactly legal, but you can pick up GPS units for less than $100, that give a actual read out of your speed. Just use that all the time? Not sure how much a digital speedo is, but it would have to be about $70, unless you made it yourself....$20 or so.

Ok, so me and a mate replaced the clutch on my Sierra (96 Coily) on the weekend, and thought, seen as though we didn’t have any idea going into the job, that I would write a list of steps that WE did, which seemed to have worked in this instance. Ok, so the clutch is all out, flywheel is of ready to be machened tomorrow. Should the engine be really loose now the gearbox has been removed. It is extremely loose, and can be moved around easily from the flywheel.

Cheers,
